Connectors

Connectors help us to build longer sentences, connect ideas, and communicate more
naturally.

1. Connectors for Adding Information (Añadir información)


• and – y (I like coffee and tea.)
• also – también (She speaks English. She also speaks Spanish.)
• too – también (He likes pizza. I like pizza too.)
• besides – además (I don’t like football. Besides, I can’t play well.)

2. Connectors for Contrast (Contraste)


• but – pero (I like chocolate, but I don’t like vanilla.)
• however – sin embargo (It’s raining. However, we can still go out.)
• although – aunque (Although it’s cold, she isn’t wearing a jacket.)

3. Connectors for Cause and Effect (Causa y efecto)


• because – porque (I’m happy because today is my birthday.)
• so – así que / entonces (It’s late, so I have to go home.)
• that’s why – ore so (I was tired. That’s why I went to bed early.)

4. Connectors for Sequence and Time (Secuencia y tiempo)


• first – primero (First, I wake up. Then, I have breakfast.)

• if – si (If it rains, we will stay home.)
