The Hardware
Hardware consists of the physical parts of a computer system (that we can touch).

➢ Internal means all the parts inside the use case such as motherboard, CPU, RAM, ROM,...
➢ External means all the outside parts such as keyboard, mouse, monitor, ....
External can be classified into three groups: External

Storage
An input device is used to insert data into computer. Such as:
• Keyboard: It is used to type letters, numbers, characters and some commands.
Input devices
• Mouse: It is a pointing device, it is used to click, select and open files....
• Scanner: It is used to insert a hard document (such as an old picture) into the
computer.
• Joystick: It is used to play games on the computer.
The output devices display and deliver the results of your work. Such as:

•Monitor: It displays images and videos. There are two types of monitors : CRT
and LCD.

• Printer: It prints out documents on papers.
• Speakers: They produce audio and sounds.

They are used to store data.
Storage devices
Such as Flash memory (USB), CD, DVD, Hard Disk Drive,..
The software
Software is set of instruction that makes a computer work. It is all applications and programs.
There are two main types of software:

Software software
o System software is essential to keep the computer working.
Without the system software, the computer will not function.
Examples: Microsoft windows, Android, Mac, IOS, Linux, ….
o Application software is a set of programs that follow the instructions of the user.
Without the application software, the computer still can function properly.
Examples: Microsoft Office, games, paint program, Minecraft,...
CPU stands for Central Processing Unit
CPU is the brain of the computer, It is piece of hardware, it performs the basic arithmetical,
logical, and control the input/output operations .
