Real World Connection: (discussion)
Suggest discussing real life situations e.g. The rectangular-shaped screen
of your laptop, television, or mobile phone is an example of a polygon. A
rectangular football pitch or playground is an example of a polygon. The
Bermuda Triangle, which is a triangular shape, is a polygon. The
Pyramids of Egypt are also an example of polygons (triangular).
The most common real-life example of adjacent angles can be seen
in two pizza slices that are placed next to each other. Another common
example can be seen in the clock which shows the hour, minute, and
second hand that form adjacent angles when all the 3 are away from
each other.
Some examples of parallel lines cut by a transversal: Zebra crossing on
the road. Road and railway crossing. Railway tracks with sleepers.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Common Misconceptions
• Student usually get confused while identifying the polygons but
this can be resolved with regular reinforcement.
• The students think that all transversal lines are perpendicular
• .
Facts to remember
• Parallel lines are straight lines with a constant distance
between them.
• Perpendicular lines intersect one another at a 90-degree angle
(a right angle).
• A transversal line is a line that passes through two parallel lines.
• Adjacent angles are two angles that have a common side and a
common vertex (corner point) but do not overlap in any way.

• Another word for opposite angles is vertical angles. Vertical
angles are always congruent, which means that they are equal.
Adjacent angles are angles that come out of the same vertex.
