UNIT – 2 (DATA LITERACY)

CLASS IX
Q1. What is Data Literacy?
Ans: It is the ability to understand, interpret, and communicate data effectively,
including collect, analyze, and present data in meaningful ways.

Q2. What is Data Pyramid?

Ans: Data pyramid is a conceptual model that describe the hierarchical structure of
data processing. It starts with raw data, through processing and analysis, this data
evolves into meaningful information, then knowledge and in last wisdom.

Stages of Data Pyramid:-

1. Data (Base Level):
 Data is in its most basic form, unprocessed and unstructured
2. Information:
 It is a processed data
which carries logical
meaning
 By asking relevant
questions about
“Who”,”When”,”What”,”Where” etc, we can derive valuable
information from the data and make it more useful.
3. Knowledge:
 Useful information that leads deeper understanding
 It is the ability to use information to achieve desired output.
4. Wisdom:
 It represent the highest level of understanding
 It involves critical thinking to interpret data and make good
decisions

Q3. Draw “traffic Light” example with data pyramid.

Q4. What is Data Literacy process Framework?

Ans: The data literacy framework provides a structured method to work efficiently
with data. The data literacy framework includes data collection, data analysis, data
organisation, data visualisation, and evaluation.

Levels of Data Literacy Process Framework

1. PLAN: Program starts with a discussion or defining the goal.

2. Communication: Design a well – formulated communication plan to explain
the purpose of the goal.
3. Assess: Introduce the participants to a data literacy assessment tool
4. Develop Culture: To integrate data literacy skills into the organisational
culture.
5. Prescriptive Learning: Provides a set of resources for individual to align with
their learning style.
6. Evaluate: Improve participants overall data literacy skills, Creating a
structured framework to assess participant’s progress.

Q5. What are Data Privacy and Security?

Ans:

Data Privacy : Data privacy is the protection of personal data from those who
should not have access to it and the ability of individuals to determine who can
access their personal information.

The following best practices can help you ensure data privacy:
● Understanding what data, you have collected, how it is handled, and where
it is stored.
● Necessary data required for a project should only be collected.
● User consent while data collection must be of utmost importance.

Data Security: Data security is about protecting digital information from threats
like theft and unauthorized access. To prevent digital data we can use Encryption,
firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and regular security audits of data

The most possible reasons why data security is more important now are:
o Cyber-attacks affect all the people
o The fast-technological changes will boom cyber attacks

Q6. What are the various types of data?

Ans: Data can be broadly classified under textual (Categorical or Qualitative) and
numerical (Quantitative) data.
Numeric Data:
 Continuous data is numeric data that is continuous. E.g., height, weight, temperature,
voltage
 Discrete data is numeric data that contains only whole numbers and cannot be fractional
E.g. Admission No, Account No, PNR No etc.

Textual Data:

 Nominal Data that categorizes information into distinct, non-ordered labels, ex eye color
(blue, green) or car brands (BMW, Audi)
 Ordinal Data that can be ordered into categories with a meaningful rank, ex school grades
(A, B, C), Job Position (Manager, Supervisor, Employee) etc.

Q7. Which types of data are using in AI domains.

Ans:
Q8. How types of data are using in Data Acquisition?
Ans: The process typically comprises three key steps and plays a crucial
role in obtaining and preparing data for analysis.

Data Discovery: the initial step of finding and acquiring data from
sources like the internet, clicking pics of road, tree, parking etc.
Data Augmentation: means increasing the amount of data by adding
copies of existing data with small changes, like flipping, rotating,
cropping, changing brightness etc.
Data Generation: recording data using sensors, like recording
temperature of a building, data generation in self-driving cars using
different road conditions, weather, traffic patterns etc.

Q9. Define Data Processing and Data Interpretation?

AnsL Data Processing preparing and analyzing raw information to train
models or predict outcomes.
Data Interpretation is the process of making sense of data by
analyzing it to uncover patterns, trends. Interpretation of data helps us
answer critical questions.
Process of Data Interpretation

Q10. What are the different types of Data Interpretation?

Ans: There are three ways in which data can be presented
1. Textual : The data is mentioned in the text form, usually in a
paragraph, textual presentation is not suitable for large data.
2. Tabular DI: where information is organized in rows and columns to
be understood and analyzed
3. Graphical DI: using visuals or charts to understand, represent, and
analyze data, like using Bar Graph, Pie Chart, Line Graphs etc.
