Comb able hair for the doll
Durable hair from yarn for combing and styling.
This hair making technology can be applied
to any rag doll.
Tools & materials
Tools:
1. Water (or air) soluble fabric
marker
2. Scissors
3. Ruler
4. Little thin needle
5. Big thick large eye needle
Materials:
1. Baby yarn (its thickness affects the
thickness of the doll's hair)
2. Sewing thread of a suitable color.
3. 2 small hair ties for hair styling
4. 1 tiny rubber band
The hairline 1. Cut the yarn into equal parts.
2. About half of the length of these threads will be the length of the
doll's future hair, so first try the length by applying the threads to
the dolls head.
3. Draw a hairline round all doll’s head with a soluble fabric marker.
4. Draw a side parting as it‘s shown in the photo.
1. Using a back stitch make the first loop by sewing threads.
First strand 2. Fold a strand of yarn in half.
3. Insert it into the thread loop.
4. Insert the ends of the yarn into a loop of yarn and tighten.
Strands along
the hairline 1. Then tighten the sewing thread.
2. Go on, repeat all actions, using back stitches, making
them tightly to each other.
3. Follow photo instructions.
Strands along the hairline
First side of parting 1. If you use thiner yarn, you can make another round of strands
close to the first round to make the hairstyle more voluminous.
2. After the hairline start to make strands along one side of the
parting.
3. From the top of the head to the bottom, tightly to each other.
Parallel side of parting
1. Continue making the parrallel side of parting.
2. Place the loops tightly to each other and close to
the first part of the parting.
Darning bald patches 1. Use large ear needle and a long yarn thread.
2. Darn the empty spaces on each side of the
parting.
Darning bald patches If you wish, you can leave doll’s hair like
this or make strands around her face.
Making the bang 1. For the beautiful strands framing the
face, fix 5-7 strands butt to the hairline.
2. Devide them into 2 unequal parts. Fix
them with little rubber band behind the
doll’s hair.
3. Cut the hair to make them the same
length if nessesary.
Congratulations!
Now you can comb the hair and do different hairstyles. The hair is durable and safe
even for little kids. They and you may don’t be afraid to pull the hair, because such
actions won’t damage it, the strands just tighten even more.
