Field excursion report format
The field excursion is a trip made for the aim of studying a particular matter on or
related to what someone is pursuing. It can be a day trip or more than one day trip
depending on the matter studied. After the trip, a report should be written by individual
student or group of students on the matter studied. This report is marked and given
score that will contribute to the final score of a particular module.
Cover page: This should show the following in the given order and should be aligned
centre: Name of the Institute and the logo, title of the field excursion, student’s
registration number, the place where field excursion was undertaken.
Acknowledgement: Student(s) should acknowledge all those who assisted in
contributing to the success of the field trip and report writing.
Table of contents: A table of contents should be generated automatic to show the
contents of the field excursion report and the respective page numbers for easy reading
and referencing.
List of figures: All figures and photos must be captioned at the bottom. Figures or photos
should be referred in the report for easy reading. Figures or photos should be numbered
serially as they appear in the report. Pages where figures or photos are referred should
be indicated for easy reading and referencing.
List of tables: All tables must be captioned at the top with table number shown against
each table caption. Tables should be referred in the report for easy reading. Tables
should be numbered serially as they appear in the report. Pages where tables are
referred should be indicated for easy reading and referencing.
List of acronyms/abbreviations: All acronyms or abbreviations used in the report
should be included in this section, with their full meanings.

4.1 Conclusion
The conclusion should be made basing on objectives of the field excursion, key issues
learnt from the field excursion, practical problems related to the field excursion and
solutions of the practical problems related to the field excursion. It should not contain
new contents which are not in the report.
4.2 Recommendations
Recommendations should be made basing on issues to be improved and/or contents,
teaching of the specific module and service delivery at the place where you have visited.
5. Citations
Include citations that you have used as reference materials. Citations in the text should
be in parentheses and include author sir name(s) and year of publication. Text citations
of two or more works at different time should be given in chronological order. When citing
a paper written by three or more authors, write the sir name of the first author plus “et
al.” (However, all authors must be given in the reference section). Where there are two
or more papers by the same author in one-year, distinguishing letter (a, b, c....) should
be added to the year.
All references should be carefully cross-checked to ensure that references are correct,
and they appear in the list of references in ascending order.

All relevant citations should be APA style of referencing e.g. (Notter, B., Hurni, H.,
