Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality
Virtual Reality
❑ Virtual reality refers to a technology that induces humans to experience a virtual world built with
computers.
❑ Virtual reality can be constructed in various ways, and the most widely
known method is to attach a head-mounted display to the head and experience
virtual reality through a lens.
❑ Such scenes will often be seen in virtual reality games or TV programs. In other words, through the
lens, the user experiences a three-dimensional simulated environment which instantly stimulates the
human brain, making the user think it is the real environment.
❑ In this case, the user can interact with the surrounding environment through manipulation devices or
commands beyond simply immersing in virtual reality. For example, in a virtual reality fighting
game, the user becomes the virtual space protagonist and confronts the enemy. Through this, the
user becomes more immersed in the game’s environment and behaves as if they belong to the
environment.
