Past simple: To talk about something happened in the past and finished in
specific time.
Spelling rules Examples
base form + ed - walk walked
- play played
verbs ending in –e + d - like liked
- move moved
verbs ending in a consonant + y - carry carried
change y i + ed - study studied
Some verbs ending in a consonant + - plan planned
the second last letter is a vowel - stop stopped
Double the last letter + ed
