Revolutionizing Dispute Resolution: The Intersection of ADR and Emerging

Technologies

Author- Riya Raj

Introduction:

The environment of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is changing dramatically,

owing to the incorporation of new technology. Historically, ADR has provided parties
with an alternative to traditional courtrooms for resolving disputes, emphasizing
efficiency, confidentiality, and mutual agreement. However, as global trade and
interactions become more complicated, traditional ADR methods are challenged in
terms of scalability, accessibility, and timeliness. The introduction of technology such
as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and online dispute resolution (ODR)
platforms creates both opportunities and problems for rethinking the usefulness of ADR
processes. AI can automate operations like as document review and legal research,
increasing productivity while decreasing expenses. Blockchain technology introduces
smart contracts, which self-execute when certain criteria are met, reducing contract
enforcement problems.
ODR platforms enable remote mediation and arbitration, extending access to dispute
resolution services. While technology innovations have the potential to transform ADR
by increasing speed and accessibility, they also pose serious concerns regarding data

this research paper. This methodology plays a pivotal role in legal scholarship by
focusing on the analysis of legal texts, statutes, case law, and scholarly writings. It
involves systematically identifying, examining, and interpreting existing legal
frameworks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the law on a particular
subject.
In the context of exploring the intersection between Alternative Dispute Resolution
(ADR) and emerging technologies, doctrinal research serves as an essential tool. By
meticulously analyzing current legal provisions governing ADR mechanisms and
scrutinizing how technological advancements are being integrated within these
frameworks, researchers can elucidate the evolving legal landscape. This approach
allows for the identification of gaps, ambiguities, and areas where the law may require
adaptation to accommodate innovations such as online dispute resolution platforms,
artificial intelligence in mediation, and blockchain-based arbitration agreements.
Employing doctrinal research in this domain facilitates a structured evaluation of how
traditional ADR principles are being challenged or reinforced by technological
developments. It enables scholars to critically assess the effectiveness, efficiency, and
fairness of tech-driven dispute resolution processes. Furthermore, this methodology
supports the formulation of well-grounded recommendations for legal reforms, ensuring
