NOISE ABATEMENT

GENERAL
Operations of following ACFT are not permitted:
- Jets without noise certification or not complying with the terms of ICAO Annex 16,
Vol I, Chapter 3.
- Propeller-driven ACFT exceeding 5700kg MTOW without noise certification or not
complying with the terms of ICAO Annex 16, Vol I, Chapter 3, 5, 6 or 10.
Pilots flying single-engined variable pitch propeller ACFT are strongly advised to take
all possible measures for noise abatement.

ARRIVALS
Approach paths below the PAPI vertical approach guidance are prohibited within
IRE 2.5 DME.

DEPARTURES
RWY 01: All ACFT shall plan to reach the highest possible altitude over DER, using
normal take-off procedures. ACFT in LEFT-hand circuit shall fly normal
circuit. Traffic planning to make a RIGHT-hand turn after take-off shall
continue climbing on RWY heading to 1000’ or until passing Reykjavik har-
bour (fuel tanks in Oerfirisey) before proceeding on course. Single-
engined ACFT shall plan their take-off to endeavour to reach at least 400'
when passing DER.
RWY 31: If a RIGHT turn is planned after take-off, maintain RWY heading to 800'
before initiating the turn.

NIGHTTIME RESTRICTIONS
Traffic allowed:
1. Ambulance and emergency flights;
2. The Icelandic Coastguard;
3. International flights that use BIRK as alternate APT;
4. Landings of scheduled flights subject to unforeseen delays;
5. Humanitarian flights.

RUN-UP TESTS
Engine test runs, after maintenance, shall only take place during the following hours:
MON-FRI 0800-2200LT, weekends and public holidays 1000-1800LT. Engine test runs are
restricted on public holidays. The Icelandic Transport Authority will permit engine test
runs from 0745LT during weekdays if necessary.

AUXILIARY POWER UNIT (APU)


APU must be shut down promptly, as soon as alternate power is available.
Continuous use of APU for more than 20 minutes before take-off or after landing is
prohibited.

TRANSPONDER SETTINGS ON GROUND


Flight crew shall from the request for push back or taxi, whichever is earlier, and after landing,
continuously until the ACFT is fully parked on stand:
-select AUTO mode and the assigned Mode A code. If AUTO mode is not available, the pilots shall select
XPNDR or the equivalent depending on installed equipment, and the assigned Mode A code.

When a taxi clearance contains a taxi limit beyond a RWY, it will contain an explicit clearance to cross
or an instruction to hold short of that RWY.
If a taxi clearance does not include instructions to cross a RWY, pilot shall hold at RWY holding points
and request a clearance to cross the RWY.
