3101 Torque Converter

Torque Converter repairs should include the following specific jobs:


020 - Recondition
007 - Recondition After Failure

Each of the above jobs will consist of the following:


Each job should have SMU's for both 1st and 2nd intervals.
Each job should have a labor time.
Each job should have a complete parts list with the exception of the Remove & Install job.
When there are two or more of a component, we will use the EACH quantity modifier and enter the
total number of components in the QUANTITY column.
Labor Code for RECONDITION and RECONDITION AFTER FAILURE will be SHP.
Each Job will have the component Group number input in the Group Number Field.
SMCS CODES
Use component codes for axles with the appropriate description. Use 3101 Torque Converter. Use
appropriate job codes and quantity codes to describe the job as needed.
3101 - 020 - Recondition Torque Converter
LABOR
INCLUDES: Labor to replace individual wear parts as follows, gaskets, seals, wear rings, bushings, shims,
bearings and friction disks.
EXCLUDES: Labor to replace any non wear components.
PARTS
INCLUDES: All seals, gaskets, wear rings, bearings, shims, bushings, friction disks, and any internal wear
parts. In the event there is no consist, select the group level component at 100%. If the group level part
is selected at 100%, change the labor time to 1 hour.
EXCLUDES: Mounting hardware, lines, fittings, connecting shafts and any non wear parts. Parts due to a
failure or poor maintenance.
LABOR TIME: See chart for labor times.

3101 - 007 - Recondition After Failure Torque Converter


LABOR
INCLUDES: Labor to replace with reman or 100% replacement of the component. Use 1 hour for labor.
In the event no reman is available and the group level component is not serviced, put 80% usage on the
entire consist and change the labor time to equal the 020 Recondition job.
EXCLUDES: Excessive labor due to poor maintenance or a failure.
PARTS
INCLUDES: The group level component at 100%. If the group level component is not serviced, put 80%
usage on the entire parts consist and change the labor time to match the 020 Recondition job.
EXCLUDES: Parts due to a failure or poor maintenance.
LABOR TIME: The labor time should be 1 hour for replacement or should equal the labor time on the
020 Recondition job if usage is 80% of consist.
