ASSIGNMENT NO 1
Submission Date: 3/2/2025
1. Four coplanar concurrent forces P, 150 N, 300 N and 400 N are acting on a body.
Determine the magnitude and direction of force P such that the force system is in
equilibrium. P makes an angle θ to positive x direction, 150 N makes an angle 30 º
to negative x direction, 300 N is along positive y axis and 400 N is along negative
y axis
2. A hook is subjected to three forces (F1 = 200 N, α1 = 55°, F2 = 60 N, α2 = 60°, F3
= 40 N) as shown in the figure. Determine the magnitude and direction of the
resultant.
3. The resultant of two forces, one of which is double the other, is 290 N. If the
direction of the larger force is reversed and the other remains unaltered, the
resultant reduces to 200 N. Determine the magnitude of the forces and the angle
between them
4. The greatest and the least resultants of two forces P and Q are 17N and 3 N
respectively. Determine the angle between them when their resultant is √149 N
5. Find the resultant of the force system shown below
6. Find the resultant of a set of coplanar forces as shown in figure below
