ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM
1. ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM
(1) Component Parts Location
EFT0001L V
(2) Inspection
Ensure accelerator pedal moves smoothly without binding and that
it returns quickly when released.
FE-2
ACCELERATOR WIRE
2. ACCELERATOR WIRE
(1) Adjustment (models with non-electronically
controlled engine specifications)
Gasoline model (K15, K21, and K25)
1. Loosen accelerator wire outer casing lock nut on carburetor side.
2. Move outer casing in direction of arrow until throttle valve starts to
open (or throttle lever just moves away from throttle adjustment
screw).
3. From that position, move outer casing back by 0.5 to 1.0 mm
(0.020 to 0.039 in) and tighten lock nut.
Diesel model
On models equipped with control knobs, turn the knob fully
counterclockwise, then adjust as described below:
1. Loosen lock nut on accelerator wire which is connected to fuel
injection device.
2. Move outer casing in direction of arrow until accelerator lever
starts to move away from idle adjustment screw.
3. From that position, move outer casing back by 0.5 to 1.0 mm
(0.020 to 0.039 in) and tighten lock nut.
Diesel engines
(2) Installation
Observe the following notes during installation:
• Accelerator wire bending radius must be as large as possible.
• Be careful not to bend inner wire and outer casing sharply since
they may become deformed or damaged.

ACCELERATOR PEDAL
3. ACCELERATOR PEDAL
(1) Inspection and Adjustment
1. Depress accelerator pedal.
For gasoline models (with non-electronically controlled
engine):
Depress accelerator pedal until throttle lever is in contact with
throttle adjustment screw.
For diesel models:
Depress accelerator pedal until accelerator control lever is in
contact with maximum speed setscrew.
2. At this point, stopper bolt must be in contact with accelerator
pedal. If necessary, adjust stopper bolt. After adjusting stopper
bolt, tighten lock nut.
3. After properly adjusting both accelerator wire and accelerator
pedal (as described above), check the following:
For gasoline models (with non-electronically controlled
engine):
Ensure throttle lever is in contact with throttle adjustment screw.
For diesel models:
Ensure throttle lever is in contact with idle adjustment screw.
(2) Assembly
Observe the following notes during assembly:
• Ensure accelerator shaft return spring is properly installed on the
bracket.
FET0011L • Apply chassis grease to sliding parts.

FUEL SYSTEM
4. FUEL SYSTEM
CAUTION
Before working on the fuel system take the following
precautions.
• Be sure to turn ignition switch "OFF" and then disconnect
battery ground cable.
• Have a well-ventilated working area.
• Keep away from arcs, sparks, flames or lit cigarettes.
(1) Fuel Tank Gauge Unit
FET0005L V
(2) Fuel Piping
• Insert fuel tube more than 25 mm (0.98 in) when connecting fuel
hose with fuel tube.
• Securely clamp pipe and hose clips at designated points and in
correct direction.
FET0007L • Make sure pipes and hoses are not deformed or damaged.
• Keep fuel lines at least 51 mm (2.00 in) away from electrical parts.
Fuel tube flare nut tightening torque [N・m (kg-m)]:
15 - 17 (1.5 - 1.7)
(3) Fuel Valve and Elbow Connector
• Do not disconnect elbow connector and fuel valve unless
absolutely necessary.
• When installing elbow connector or fuel valve, be sure to
apply a coat of locking sealant to screw threads.

EXHAUST SYSTEM
5. EXHAUST SYSTEM
FET0008L V

EXHAUST SYSTEM
CAUTION
• Start work on the exhaust system after making sure that the
engine has sufficiently cooled down.
(1) Installation
When connecting exhaust (muffler inlet parts) use the Genuine
NISSAN Sealant, "Exhaust Sealant Kit, 20720-N2225" to eliminate
gas leakage at joint.
• The sealant should be used within guaranty term indicated on the
FET0009L case.
• Exposure of sealant to the skin may cause a rash. Wash sealant
off the skin with water.
• Do not keep the sealant tube in a place where the ambient
temperature is 40°C (104°F) or above. A sealant hardened at
40°C (104°F) or above cannot be used. The most suitable storage
temperature is from 15 to 35°C (59 to 95°F). If sealant becomes
hardened because of low temperature, warm the sealant tube with
lukewarm water until the sealant is softened. Do not warm the tube
at a temperature of over 40°C (104°F).
• Thoroughly read the instruction sheet before using the sealant.
NOTE:
• The sealant is used for the joint of an overhead muffler (on the
counterweight). Other parts need not be used.
