How Long You Should Spend on Each Section
A moderate time division can be done as below:
How to Prepare for the Exam

Understand the Syllabus: Ensure that you have a clear understanding of the entire BOARD
Class 10 physics, chemistry and biology syllabus. Identify the chapters and topics that carry
more weight in terms of marks.
Create a Study Schedule: Develop a realistic and well-organized study schedule that covers all
the topics in the syllabus. Allocate sufficient time for each chapter, focusing on your weaker
areas.
Practice Regularly: Science Is a subject that requires consistent practice. Solve a variety of
problems from different chapters to strengthen your problem-solving skills. Use the SCERT
textbooks and additional reference books for practice.
Master the Basics: Ensure a strong foundation in basic concepts and formulas. Many
advanced problems are built upon fundamental principles, so it's crucial to have a solid
understanding of the basics.

Solve Sample Papers: Practice solving sample papers and previous years' question papers.
This will help you understand the exam pattern, time management, and the types of questions
that can be expected in the board exam.

Time Management: Develop effective time management skills. Practice solving problems within
the allocated time for each section. This will help you handle the exam pressure more efficiently.

Seek Clarifications: Don't hesitate to ask your teachers for clarification on any doubts or
concepts you find challenging. Understanding the material thoroughly is key to performing well
in the exam.

Use Visual Aids: Utilize visual aids like diagrams and charts to understand complex concepts..

Stay Healthy: Ensure you get enough sleep, eat healthily, and take short breaks during your
study sessions. A healthy lifestyle contributes to better concentration and retention of
information.

Stay Positive: Maintain a positive attitude towards the subject. Believe in your abilities and stay
confident. A positive mindset can significantly impact your performance.

Some Useful Tips while Writing the Exam:

Maintain Composure and Confidence:
During the Science examinations—whether it is Physics, Chemistry, or Biology—it is essential
to remain calm and composed. In case of encountering a challenging question—be it a
numerical, diagram-based, or theoretical—do not panic. Take a deep breath and proceed to the
next question. Revisit the difficult ones later with a clear mind.

Attempt All Questions:

Students are advised to attempt all questions. Even if the complete answer is not known, it is
beneficial to write the relevant steps, formulas, diagrams, or partial explanations. In individual
Science subjects, marks are often awarded for procedural steps and scientific reasoning.

Review Your Answers Thoroughly:

Upon completing the paper, allocate time to revise your responses. Pay special attention to the
accuracy of derivations in Physics, chemical equations in Chemistry, scientific terms in Biology,
and labeled diagrams across all subjects. Ensure that no questions are left unanswered and all
components of the answers are complete.

Prepare a Subject-Specific Strategic Plan:

It is recommended to plan your approach to each examination in advance. Familiarize yourself
with the structure of the question paper and decide the sequence in which you wish to attempt
the sections—such as numerical-based questions in Physics, reaction-based questions in
Chemistry, or diagram-based questions in Biology—based on your comfort level and practice
experience.

Efficient Time Allocation is Crucial:

Each subject paper (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology) has its own time duration and question
structure. Time management is essential to ensure all questions are attempted. Students may
aim to complete the main portion of the paper well within the allotted time and use the final
minutes for revision.

Utilize the 15-Minute Reading Time Effectively:

The initial 15 minutes provided for reading the question paper should be used judiciously. This
time can be utilized to mentally revise important formulas, scientific laws, definitions, chemical
equations, and labeled diagrams. Students may also identify the questions they are confident in
and plan the order of attempt accordingly.

Begin with Familiar and Straightforward Questions:

It is advisable to first attempt the questions you find easier and are well-prepared for. Starting
with familiar topics—such as direct numerical applications, basic definitions, or known
reactions—helps in building confidence and saving time for tackling more complex questions
later.

Questions May Be Attempted in Any Order:

There is no compulsion to follow the serial order of questions. However, for better coherence
and evaluation, it is advisable to complete questions from a particular section in sequence, as
applicable.

Maintain a Consistent Pace Throughout the Examination:

Avoid spending excessive time on a single question. Ensure that your answers are scientifically
accurate, neatly presented, and written legibly. Use appropriate units, label diagrams correctly,
and write stepwise solutions wherever required.

Read and Interpret Questions Carefully:

Scientific terminology requires careful attention. Misinterpretation of terms or incorrect
representation of question numbers can lead to loss of marks. Read each question thoroughly,
identify key terms, and ensure accurate understanding before writing your responses.
