Introduction to WORD PROCESSING
A word processor is software or a device
that allows users to create, edit, and print
documents. It enables you to write text,
store it electronically, display it on a
screen, modify it by entering commands
and characters from the keyboard, and
print it.
WORKING WITH DOCUMENTS AND THE
KEYBOARD
A keyboard's primary function is to act as an input device. Using a keyboard, a person
can type a document, use keystroke shortcuts, access menus, play games and perform a
variety of other tasks. Keyboards can have different keys depending on the
manufacturer, the operating system they're designed for, and whether they are attached
to a desktop computer or part of a laptop. But for the most part, these keys, also called
keycaps, are the same size and shape from keyboard to keyboard. They're also placed at
a similar distance from one another in a similar pattern, no matter what language or
alphabet the keys represent.
Most keyboards have between 80 and 110 keys, including:
Typing keys
A numeric keypad
Function keys
Control keys

perform all of these formatting
tasks are found on the Home tab in
the Font group. Select your text

headings.

a printer. It includes page size, page orientation, page
margins, headers and footer etc. page formatting is defined in

TEMPLATES
A template is a predesigned document you can use to
create documents quickly without having to think about
formatting. With a template, many of the larger document
design decisions such as margin size, font style and size,
and spacing are predetermined. In this lesson, you will
learn how to create a new document with a template and
insert text into it.

that enables users to send a similar letter or document to
multiple recipients. It enables connecting a single form template
with a data source that contains information about the recipient’s
name, address and other predefined and supported data.
