ENT INSTRUMENTS

Gelles test
• Test for bone conduction.
• Examines the effect of increased air pressure in ear canal.
• Performed by vibrating fork over mastoid.
• By increasing the presssure in the EAC with a siegels speculum.it
pushes the TM and ossicles inward,raises the intralabrynthine
pressure and causes immobility of bassilar membrane and decreased
hearing but no change in hearing when ossicles are fixed.
Killian baynot shaped nasal gouge

rounded smooth bevelling for a
better grip of bone

MOLLISON Tonsillar dissector and anterior pillar
retractor

• Blunt dissection of tonsils by its


blunt end
• retracting the anterior pillar
• To visualize bleeders in tonsillar
fossa
• For retracting soft palate and

isthmus hook
• Used to retract the isthmus of the thyroid and
other soft tissue during tracheostomy
• The sharp tracheal hook is used to retract the
cricoid cartilage superiorly and stabilize the
trachea prior to the tracheal incision during
tracheostomy
Micromotor drill handpiece with burr
• This is a detachable portion of the
micromotor used to anchor the burrs.
• The burr is inserted by unlocking the
thread of the handpiece
• The burr is pushed inside the handpiece
and then locked to secure it.
