A. Answer these questions.


1. Why does the speaker use the terms 'wink - ity'and 'blink-ity' to describe the Owl?
Ans:- The speaker use wink ity and blink ity to suggest that the owl blinks and
appears to be winking. Also, these words bring the rhyming effect.

2. Give a description of the antelope the speaker wishes to become.


Ans:- the speaker wishes to become an antelope, a prong- horned antelope, with lots of other
antelope skimming like a cloud on a wire- grass plain.

3. Why does the speaker wish to be a puma?


Ans:- The speaker wishes to be a Puma , because a puma is a fierce and coloured and slinking
animal , whose characters was liked by the speaker.

4. Describe the special qualities of the hunter.


Ans:- the hunter had a special quality to kill the puma , he is a red Indian hunter.

5. Who is more powerful the, puma or the hunter? Explain.


Ans:- The hunter is more powerful that the puma.
He is a red Indian hunter who can killthe puma with the bow made of juniper wood.

B. Answer these questions with reference to the context.

1. And I would never take a look

At a lesson or a book And I would scold like a pirate on the sea

If I only had to do what I like to do

And did not always have to be me!

a. Identify the rhyming pairs from the above stanza.


Ans:- The rhyming pairs are , look , book ; to do ,to do.

b. What does the speaker wish to do in these lines?


Ans:-The speaker wishes to scold like a pirate on the sea.
c. Explain the last two lines.
Ans:- The speaker all ways like to do what he wishes but sometimes the wishes doesn’t fulfill in
the life.

2. Skimming like a cloud on a wire- grass plane.

A bounding bouncing antelope

You would never get me back to my desk again!

a. Give a description of the activities of the antelope.


Ans:- The antelope moving quickly lightly running with long steps so that the puma can’t get him
in his desk again.

b. Name the persona of the poem.


Ans:- The persona of the poem is Mary Hunter Austin.
