FEMINISM

Srinidhi karthik (SK) :- welcome to echoes of equality . iam

srinidhi karthik . joining me are 4 curious , intellectual and
open-minded people . so hop on to the ride with us as we delve into
the core of feminism .This podcast throws light into the topics such
as misinterpretation of feminism and the reality of freedom
experienced by women .

Part 1 :- WHAT IS FEMINISM TRULY ?

SK:- lets start with the basic first ! . what is the real definition of
feminism ? .

Daakshika (DK):- Feminism, at its core, is the belief in social,

political, and economic equality of the sexes. It’s not about women
being superior—it’s about dismantling systems that privilege one
gender over another. But in India, it’s often misinterpreted as man-
hating or Western ideology.

Rohithaa (RH):- Exactly. Feminism isn’t a trend—it’s a fight for

dignity. , if a girl speaks up for her rights, some people label her as
a ‘man-hater.’ But is asking for equal pay or safety the same as
hating men? .

Srinidhi R (SR) :- of course not ! . Feminism is not about women

being superior to men. It’s about leveling the playing field.

DK :- And honestly, a lot of this confusion comes from social

media. On platforms like YouTube or Instagram, some creators post
videos bashing men and then call it feminism. But that’s not
feminism at all.”
RH :-Since these type of videos go viral , ppl often tend to think tht
feminism means man- hating , hating men , suppressing them and
so on . But thats not what we want . We just want to be treated as
humans !.

SK:- Yes! And that leads us to the second segment of the day ,
ARE WOMEN TRULY FREE ? . we celebrate womens day and
proudly wave flags on independence day . but , (pause) are women
truly free

SR:- independence is the radical notion that nobody else should be

treated lesser when compared to others . then what about women .
they are not lesser than others too . they deserve to be treated as
humans too .

HSK :- The social media gets piled up with posts and wishes on
women’s day . what freedom are truly experiencing when so many
women are still fighting to be heard , seen and safe? .

HSK :- is one day of praise enough to call women truly free in a

world that still sciences them the other 364? . how certain are we
that no women i being raped during women’s day ?

So i’d like conclude by saying that :-

They give us one day of flowers. One day of applause. One day to
say "we see you."
And then, for the other 364, they look away.

They silence us when we speak too loud. They laugh when we

name our pain. They roll their eyes when we say “it’s still
happening.”
Still happening — every day. Even on Women’s Day.
Somewhere, right now, a woman is screaming.
And somewhere else — a room full of people is pretending not to
hear her.
So no — one day is not enough.
Not when the justice is performative. Not when the equality is
decorative. Not when the wounds are fresh and the world still
blames the wounded. Thank you
