CRQs Question with Answers
By: Shan Ali Junejo – 03490975541
Syllabus of (CRQs) → Pedagogical Content Knowledge (Teaching Methods, Child Development,
Psychology, Classroom Management, Assessment, School–Community Relations).

1. How sociocultural values lead to educational development of school?

Sociocultural values like respect, cooperation, and responsibility shape the learning environment
of a school. When students are taught cultural traditions and community ethics, they develop
moral character. Schools that respect diversity encourage tolerance and unity. Teachers can use
local examples to make learning meaningful. Parent–teacher collaboration strengthens cultural
identity and school progress. Thus, sociocultural values foster discipline, social harmony, and
educational development.

2. Difference between Vygotsky and Jean Piaget theory.

Jean Piaget believed that children learn through stages of cognitive development (sensorimotor,
preoperational, concrete operational, formal operational). Learning occurs naturally as the child
grows. In contrast, Lev Vygotsky emphasized the role of social interaction and culture. He
introduced the concept of Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) and scaffolding. While Piaget
focused on individual discovery, Vygotsky highlighted teacher and peer support. Together, both
theories explain how children construct knowledge.

3. How brainstorming tool helps to deliver solar system topic?

Brainstorming encourages students to share their prior knowledge about the solar system. The
teacher can ask questions like: “What do you know about planets?” or “Which planet is closest
to the sun?” Students give multiple ideas, and the teacher organizes them. This method creates
curiosity and active participation. It also helps in removing misconceptions. By grouping
responses, the teacher can explain planets, orbits, and space in an engaging way.

4. Explain Pragmatism.
Pragmatism is a philosophy of education that focuses on learning by doing and practical
experiences. According to John Dewey, education should prepare students for real-life
situations. Pragmatism encourages problem-solving, experiments, and activities instead of rote
memorization. It emphasizes flexibility, creativity, and democratic values in classrooms.
Teachers act as guides rather than dictators. Pragmatism makes learning meaningful by
connecting knowledge to daily life applications.

5. Write one MCQ on analysis level of Bloom’s Taxonomy from social studies given passage
Question:
After reading a passage on Pakistan’s independence, which of the following tasks shows analysis
level of Bloom’s Taxonomy?
A) Memorizing the year of independence
B) Listing national leaders
C) Comparing causes of Pakistan’s independence with India’s independence
D) Writing the date of Pakistan Resolution

6. Write two CRQs from science given passage.

Example Passage (Science: Human Digestive System)
 What is the function of the stomach in the digestive system?
 How does the small intestine help in nutrient absorption?
Both questions encourage short, meaningful answers that test understanding rather than rote memory.

7. Write characters of an empathetic teacher.

An empathetic teacher listens carefully to students’ problems and feelings. They understand the
challenges of both fast and slow learners. They avoid harsh criticism and encourage confidence.
Such teachers build trust and positive relationships in class. They use supportive words and fair
behavior. Empathetic teachers respect cultural and personal differences, which makes students
feel valued.

8. Advantages of feedback.
Feedback helps students know their strengths and weaknesses in learning. It provides guidance
for improvement in assignments and exams. Positive feedback motivates learners and builds
confidence. Constructive criticism corrects mistakes without discouragement. Teachers also
benefit by understanding learning gaps. Feedback makes teaching and learning more effective
and goal-oriented.

9. How will you make positive behavior in good learner and slow learner?
To promote positive behavior, a teacher should encourage good learners with challenging tasks.
For slow learners, patience and additional support are important. Group activities can mix both
types of learners to build cooperation. Praising efforts, not just results, boosts confidence in
weak learners. Giving equal opportunities avoids discrimination. Positive reinforcement like
appreciation and rewards helps both groups.

10. Classroom management as a new teacher.

A new teacher can manage the classroom by setting clear rules from the beginning. Arranging
students in a structured seating plan reduces distractions. Interactive lessons and engaging
teaching styles capture attention. Time management and lesson planning prevent chaos. Building
rapport with students ensures respect and discipline. Using rewards for good behavior motivates
the class. Classroom management ensures smooth teaching and learning.

reduces disruptions and maximizes learning time. It helps in developing student responsibility
and respect for rules. Teachers can use techniques like seating arrangements, rules, and routines.
Without proper management, learning outcomes decrease. Therefore, it is considered the
backbone of effective teaching.

2. Differentiate between formative and summative assessment with examples.

Formative assessment is conducted during the learning process to monitor student progress (e.g.,
quizzes, class discussions, feedback). It helps teachers identify weaknesses and improve teaching
strategies. Summative assessment is carried out at the end of a unit or term to evaluate overall
achievement (e.g., final exams, standardized tests). Formative is assessment for learning, while
summative is assessment of learning. Both are essential for measuring progress.

3. Explain Bloom’s Taxonomy with its levels.

Bloom’s Taxonomy is a framework for classifying educational objectives into levels of
complexity. It includes: Remembering (recall facts), Understanding (explain ideas), Applying
(use information in real situations), Analyzing (break information into parts), Evaluating (make
judgments), and Creating (produce new ideas). Teachers use Bloom’s Taxonomy to design
lesson objectives and assessments. It ensures balanced learning outcomes from basic recall to
higher-order thinking.

4. What is the role of motivation in student learning?

Motivation is the internal drive that stimulates learners to achieve goals. It can be intrinsic
(interest, curiosity) or extrinsic (grades, rewards). Motivated students actively participate, focus
better, and achieve higher outcomes. Teachers can motivate by using praise, engaging activities,
and real-life examples. Without motivation, even the best teaching strategies fail. Hence,
motivation is the fuel for learning.

5. Discuss Vygotsky’s concept of Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD).

The Zone of Proximal Development is the gap between what a learner can do independently and
what they can achieve with guidance. Vygotsky emphasized the role of teachers and peers in
providing “scaffolding” to support learning. For example, a child may not solve a math problem
alone but can do so with a teacher’s hint. ZPD shows the importance of social interaction in
learning. It encourages collaborative teaching methods.

6. Define inclusive education and its significance.

Inclusive education is the practice of educating all students, including those with disabilities, in
the same classroom. It promotes equal opportunities and reduces discrimination. Inclusive
classrooms respect diversity and provide necessary support (e.g., special resources,
individualized instruction). It benefits all learners by developing empathy and cooperation.
Teachers play a crucial role in adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse needs. Inclusive
education ensures no child is left behind.

7. What are the main characteristics of a good teacher?

A good teacher has strong subject knowledge, effective communication skills, and empathy.
They create a positive classroom environment and inspire students. Good teachers are fair,
patient, and innovative in their methods. They adapt teaching styles according to learners’ needs.
A good teacher is also a lifelong learner, updating knowledge continuously. Ultimately, they
shape students’ academic and moral development.

8. Explain different types of learning styles.

Learners have different styles of processing information: Visual learners prefer pictures and
diagrams; Auditory learners learn best through listening; Kinesthetic learners prefer hands-on
activities; Reading/Writing learners like text-based input. Teachers should use a mix of
strategies like charts, discussions, experiments, and reading tasks. Addressing learning styles
increases student engagement. It also ensures no learner is neglected in the process.

9. How can technology improve teaching and learning?

Technology enhances learning by making lessons interactive and accessible. Tools like smart
boards, multimedia, and online resources engage students better. It allows access to vast
information beyond textbooks. Technology also supports distance learning and personalized
education. For example, apps and simulations make abstract concepts easier to understand.
However, teachers must balance technology with traditional methods to avoid over-dependence.

10. What are the major challenges in Pakistani education system?

Pakistan faces multiple challenges in education such as lack of trained teachers, poor
infrastructure, outdated curriculum, and low literacy rates. Rural-urban inequality and gender
disparities further worsen the situation. Many schools lack basic facilities like electricity,
libraries, and labs. Political instability and low government funding also affect progress. To
improve, reforms in teacher training, curriculum, and resource allocation are needed.

11. Define curriculum and explain its types.

Curriculum is the planned set of lessons, activities, and experiences provided by schools to
achieve learning outcomes. Types include Formal curriculum (official syllabus taught),
Informal curriculum (learning through interactions and activities), and Hidden curriculum
(values, behaviors indirectly taught). A well-designed curriculum ensures balanced academic,
moral, and social development. It is the roadmap of education for teachers and students.

12. Explain Erikson’s psychosocial stages of development in early childhood.

Erikson identified eight stages of psychosocial development. In early childhood, the key stages
are Autonomy vs. Shame (2–3 years), where children develop independence, and Initiative vs.
Guilt (3–5 years), where they learn to take initiative. Proper guidance in these stages builds
confidence, while neglect causes shame and guilt. Teachers and parents play a vital role in
supporting children through encouragement and structured activities.

13. What are higher-order thinking skills (HOTS)?
Higher-order thinking skills go beyond memorization and involve critical, creative, and
analytical thinking. They include skills such as problem-solving, evaluation, decision-making,
and innovation. HOTS are essential for students to face real-world challenges. Teachers can
promote them through debates, projects, case studies, and problem-based learning. These skills
prepare learners for lifelong success.

14. Define evaluation and its types.

Evaluation is the process of measuring students’ performance against learning objectives. Its
types include Diagnostic evaluation (before teaching to identify needs), Formative evaluation
(during teaching to monitor progress), and Summative evaluation (after instruction to measure
achievement). Evaluation provides feedback to both teachers and students. It ensures
accountability in the education system.

15. What is lesson planning and why is it important?

Lesson planning is the detailed preparation of teaching activities before a class. It includes
objectives, materials, teaching strategies, and assessment methods. Lesson plans help teachers
stay organized and deliver content effectively. They ensure proper time management and student
engagement. Planning also allows teachers to address diverse learning needs. Without it,
teaching becomes unstructured and less effective.

16. Explain constructivist approach in teaching.

Constructivism emphasizes that learners build their own understanding through experiences.
Teachers act as facilitators rather than information givers. Activities like problem-solving, group
work, and projects encourage active learning. For example, instead of just explaining science
concepts, students perform experiments. This approach promotes deep understanding and
lifelong learning. It makes students independent thinkers.

17. What is the role of parents in child education?

Parents are the first teachers of children and influence their academic and social growth. Active
parental involvement improves attendance, motivation, and achievement. Parents can help by
guiding homework, attending school meetings, and creating a supportive home environment.
Communication between parents and teachers strengthens learning outcomes. Educated and
responsible parents contribute to a strong education system.

18. Explain multiple intelligences theory by Howard Gardner.

Howard Gardner proposed that intelligence is not one-dimensional but has multiple forms. These
include linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal,
intrapersonal, and naturalistic. For example, a student may be strong in music but weak in
math. Teachers should design lessons that tap into different intelligences. This approach values
diversity and helps every student succeed in their own way.

19. What are the qualities of a democratic classroom?
A democratic classroom encourages participation, respect, and equality. Students’ opinions are
valued and decision-making is shared. Rules are created collectively, and everyone feels
responsible. Teachers act as facilitators rather than dictators. This environment promotes
confidence, cooperation, and problem-solving. A democratic classroom prepares students for
active citizenship in society.

20. Define professional ethics for teachers.

Professional ethics are the moral principles guiding teachers in their profession. These include honesty,
fairness, respect, and commitment to students’ welfare. Teachers must avoid favoritism and
discrimination. They should maintain confidentiality and serve as role models. Professional ethics
ensure trust between teachers, students, and society. They uplift the dignity of the teaching profession.
