SECTION A – READING (8 Marks)
Q1. Read the passage given below and answer the questions that follow:
Life is a journey with highs and lows, moments of joy and phases of challenge. In the age of
social media, comparing our behind-the-scenes with others’ highlight reels can cause
unnecessary stress. Many forget that photographs and posts rarely show the full reality.
True happiness comes when we focus on our own path and celebrate personal growth,
rather than constantly comparing ourselves to others.
Contentment is not about giving up ambition, but about appreciating what you have while
working towards your goals. When we practice gratitude daily, we build a shield against
feelings of envy and resentment. Over time, this habit changes our mindset and allows us to
genuinely celebrate others’ success without feeling threatened.
On the basis of your reading of the above passage, answer the following questions:
i) What does the author mean by 'highlight reels'?
ii) State one negative effect of comparing ourselves to others on social media.
