ALLERGIES generally involve the membrane lining the nose, causing allergic rhinitis, or the
membrane lining the eyelids and covering the whites of the eyes, causing allergic conjunctivitis
SM says all allergies are autoimmune. Tran says Auto-immune diseases are Kidney diseases.
Treat K YuanQi: Rn-4, Du-4; Gb-39, LI-16 for marrow; Ub-23,52,43 [concentration pt of jing

causes lungs to breath faster to help the kidneys. During the pause between breaths is when the
qi goes through all the organs via sheng cycle [NeiJing]. So treat Kidney and Lung together,

[YUEN] Rebellious Qi is a way of looking at Yang Qiao Mai. You develop Rebellious signs and symptoms. You engage
in political agendas, activism, and you also suffer from migraine headaches. You also suffer from allergies. Just as you
find the world repulsive, your body will react to the world} contact dermatitis, Whatever it is, it's a statement that you
are ,not really comfortable with the world. That's a Yang Qiao Mai issue. You have hypertension. You can't go to
sleep, thinking why can't the world be different.
[tran] allergies. There is too much fire that will inhibit the Lungs and the Lungs correspond to the nose and
epidermis, so they are very vulnerable. Lung is fragile. Cold wind is a perverse energy that will penetrate the body
through the skin, especially the epidermis and the Lungs are already insufficient (menopause). Once through the skin,
it wants to involve the Lungs. Menopausal woman’s Lungs are weak, but not weak enough to let the perverse energy
penetrate. If she is weak she will present with coughing and bronchitis. When it sends it out of the Lungs, when it is
strong, it’ll send the perverse to the nose.
LI20 goes to BL1, then to ST1, so patients will present with tears that will rise to BL1 and start
sneezing, presenting with headaches.
Upper exteriorization pts. Allergies- treat just before season of seasons. Use care to needle
superficially. Upper (above navel)- all superficial & angled up (even method):
-- St-5: angle up
-- St-9: modern sources needle it lateral to the carotid artery; but he needles just above it and
superficially. Level with Cv-23, where feels the pulse is strongest.
-- Ren-23: towards root of tongue, since the wei qi passes to Du-16 from here via the tongue.
-- Ren-22: angle down, close behind the bone.
[Macocicia] This is of huge clinical significance because it means that our resistance to
pathogenic factors depends not only on the Wei Qi and therefore Lungs but also on the Kidneys
and the Yuan Qi (and also Jing due to the extraordinary vessels). In any case, Wei Qi stems from
the Lower Burner (chapter 18 of the Ling Shu). This is of clinical significance not only in
resistance to pathogenic factors but also in the pathology of allergic asthma and allergic rhinitis,
the root of which is also in the Kidneys, the Jing and the Yuan Qi.
conjunctivitis
All these signs correspond to flair of Liver fire. Inflammation of eyes, conjunctivitis, tearing,
dry mouth, disturbed agitated sleep. Flair of Liver fire is serious. So you have Liver reflex
and Kidney reflex and I’ll talk about that. Do Kidney reflexes, the Kidney Yin, you know the
energy points and moxa T7-T8 the Zhi point of exit and entry. Warm up B23, B52, CV4,
CV6 add CV5, CV7 because lower burner Kidney Yin and Liver attacked.
Emptiness of Liver, is always due to deficiency of blood. Kidney organ doesn’t work and
can’t maintain wood. Dry eyes, throbbing ears, dizziness, vertigo. With deficiency of blood,
the vessels are no longer maintained leading to paresthesa and dry nails and vertigo and
fatigue and this is an

Organic Liquids. CV-9, CV-6. CV9 is called the spreading of liquid point. This point works
especially well where the alimentation leaves the stomach at the pylorus, the liquid already begins
to form. When tonify CV-9, it is as if you stimulate the point of departure of the formation of
Organic Liquid. From here onwards, everything is Organic Liquids, we are in lower burner, and
the lover burner is water. When treating Organic Liquid, you have to treat the energy, that is why
CV-9, and now CV-6 must be treated. These are the only two points you need for Organic
Liquids.

ST 2 and LI 20 for Yangming facial pain and sinus symptoms;
I stress also releasing the local holding pattern of such internal and stress disorders,
while a TCM approach might well just add local mu and shu points without any attention
to releasing the actual constrictions in these areas. These local points are from the
regular meridians, not the tendinomuscular meridians, and often amount to treating the
beginnings and ends of the meridians (where taiyin, yangming etcetera come together,
such as Lu 1 and Sp 20 for taiyin respiratory signs and symptoms
(manifestations) and St 2 and 3 and LI 20 for yangming upper
respiratory, sinus and allergy manifestations. This is based on Yitian Ni’s
clarification regarding regular meridians and their manifestations that one can always
treat local points for signs and symptoms in the area of that point, based on the dictum:
“the closer the closer”. These points are invariably excess, and so I disperse with lifting
and thrusting that focuses on the lifting motion and twirling rapidly to break through the
regular meridian obstructions and get Qi and Xue moving.

Moderate Allergy Symptoms
Moderate allergic reactions can include symptoms that spread to other parts of the
body, including:
• Itchiness
• Difficulty breathing
APM's treatment will focus on treating the symptoms of allergies on three levels.
The first step is address the core or jing level with SI3 and BL62 which is Du Mai
and Yang Qiao Mai. By opening the extraordinary vessels to open the length of
the spine with Du Mai and the entire back with Yang Qiao Mai we can create a
zone that is more open to the next levels of treatment while encouraging relief in
this area. The second step is focus on the functional jing level. Kidney yang is a
key focus at the jing level as it plays a role the "fire below and fire above" in a
case like this. The points that are introduced are KD2 (if there are heat signs
because this is the fire point on the KD channel) KD3 as the source point along
with PC4, PC5, or PC6 based on which is most sensitive on palpation.
To further address KD yang, BL23 (KD shu) and BL52 usually on the right side
associated with KD yang). To address the Heart Protector use left BL14 (PC shu)
and BL43 (Gao Huang shu). If BL14 and BL43 are used then it is advised to needle
BL23 and BL52 bilaterally. Lastly to address the wei level where tight and tender
points throughout the trapezius are addressed and released to encourage the
patient's awareness of how the muscle will feel like once released from its
tension. Points to use are BL59, GB21, BL10, and GB20. BL59 will release the
upper back and BL10 with GB20 address the upper trapezius muscle. An
additional note regarding how tension in the upper trapezius may contribute to
some degree symptoms of sinus headache especially occipital headaches (BL10,
GB20) and BL62 when considering the bladder muscle channel, will extend over
and along the sinuses on the face.

Severe Allergy Symptoms (Anaphylaxis)
Anaphylaxis is a rare, life-threatening emergency in which the body's response to the
allergen is sudden and affects the whole body. Allergy symptoms may begin with
sudden itching of the eyes or face and within minutes progress to more serious
symptoms, including:
• Varying degrees of swellings that can make breathing and swallowing difficult
Abdominal pain
Cramps
Vomiting
Diarrhea
• Mental confusion or dizziness

The cramps can be further address or as an alternate based on how the patient presents
with the Prolapsed Organ treatment. Follow similar palpitory guidlines as IBS and
include palpation of the lower external obliques (Dai Mai) and the iliopsoas (outside
ST27) along with quadratus lumborum near BL52 to GB25 in the Tai Yang zone. Local
tight and tender poits at ST30, CV2, CV3, and CV6 for the uterus. Foot Shao Yin kidney

APM will seek to address the vomiting and the difficulty swallowing by focusing a reflux
esophagitis/ hiatal hernia and nervous stomach treatment. In severe cases like this one
shock and worry, from an acupuncture stand point, will upset the normal function of the
spleen and stomach causing the stomach qi to counter-flow upward. From a western
perspective, the stomach acid from the stomach will damage the esophagus and even
make it difficult to swallow due to the esophageal irritation.
The method of palpation is similar here to the IBS treatment with the addition of Xu Li
tight and tender spots at ST18 and checking the area of pectoralis major on the left
"loWest" in the area of KD22. When this is released, along with other pectoralis major
tight and tender points at ST14, ST15, ST16, and sternalis tight and tender points on the
same line as CV17, CV18, and rectus TTP's at ST19 will help the initial reflux and
discomfort significantly.

APM will seek to address the vomiting and the difficulty breathing and the mental
confusion with the fourth pattern of visceral agitation with its cardiac alarm treatment.
Specifically the treatment associated with panic attacks, cardiac neurosis and chest
discomfort, hyperventilation syndrome. These disorders can arise from an inability of
the kidney qi to interact smoothly with lung functions or, if you consider a Traditional
Chinese Medicine approach, the kidney water may not be controlling heart fire. In either
case, it will manifest in the patient as rapid heart beat, agitation, profuse sweating, and
feeling of being out of control.
Begin by being aware that there may be some sensitivity of the patient as you approach
this area due to its high reactivity. Begin palpating pectoralis major for TTP and along
the kidney channels. These areas tend fasciculate dramatically when needled. Also
consider palpation in and around SP20 to LU1 as well as along sternalis. When these TTP
are released the patient may experience a mini panic attack, profuse sweating, brief
color changes, shallow breathing, and tremors of the face and neck, chest, and then
possibly the whole body.

If the difficulty breathing is manifesting as more like Asthma use the above treatment
with a focus at LU1 to SP20 and release at the brachialis muscle, LU3, LU4
If the difficulty breathing is manifesting as a multi-symptom picture, follow a similar
treatment strategy as in treating for Asthma with the inclusion of ST13 release of the
throat and finding the most tender points at BL2, ST2, and LI20 to treat the sinuses.
There is no pecking necessary at BL2 or ST2 because the patient will benefit from the
tap of the needle into these points.
