Character Development Worksheet

Assignment

Introduction
Welcome to our character development assignment! Over the next few eLearning days, you'll
be creating a detailed character profile using the information from the character development
worksheet we've discussed in class. This assignment will help you build complex, relatable
characters for future projects.

Directions

Getting Started

1. Review the character development worksheet information from the powerpoint presentation.
2. Choose a completely new character that you invent and would like to develop.

Completing the Worksheet

1. Fill out each section of the character development worksheet:

- First Impressions
- Backstory
- Psychology
- Bringing the Character to Life

***Use the fillable PDF worksheet if possible. If not, you may reference the word doc.
But however you complete it, be organized when you record your responses. These will be
turned in for review eventually!

2. Take your time with each section. Really think about who your character is and why they act
the way they do.

Refining Your Character

1. Review your completed worksheet.
2. Add any extra details you think would make your character more interesting or realistic.
3. Start thinking about how you might portray this character physically and vocally.

What to Prepare for Our Return to Class

When we return to the classroom, be ready to:

1. Share your character with the class through a short presentation.

2. Perform a brief monologue or scene as your character. (More details will be provided later)
3. Explain how you developed your character and what choices you made.

Tips for Success

- Be creative! The more detailed and unique your character is, the more interesting they'll be to
perform.
- Think about how your character's background influences their actions and personality.
- Consider how your character might react in different situations.
- Remember, there are no "wrong" answers when creating a character - make choices that feel
true to who they are.

Good luck, and have fun bringing your character to life!
