The undersigned is pleased to inform you that College of Nursing, North Bengal
Medical College & Hospital wants to arrange a 1 day Staff Development Programme by MSc
Nursing Part II Students on any of the proposed titles (as will be selected from your end) at
Auditorium Hall, Hostel Premises of College of Nursing. NBMCH on 9 th of April,2025. The
participants will be Nursing Staff of different Hospitals of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong,
Alipurduar, Cooch Bihar, North & South Dinajpur Districts. In this regard we are sending a
proposals of below mentioned titles,
Compassionate care models for terminally ill Patients.
Standard Precaution.
Sepsis Management.
Technological Advancement of Clinical Nurses.
Global Health Challenges & Role of Clinical Nurses.
Pain Management.
Disaster Management.
Role of Evidence Based Practice in Patient outcome.
Understanding High Alert Medication & their Monitoring.

Staff development is the process directed towards the personal & professional growth of the
nurses and other personnel while they are employed by a health care agency.
Personal and Professional Development (CPPD) is the new name for the Staff Development.
DEFINITION:
Staff development includes all training and education undertaken by an employer to improve
the occupational and personal knowledge, skills, and attitudes of employment.
NEED FOR STAFF DEVELOPMENT:
To foster social change and scientific advancement.
To provide the opportunity for nurses to continually acquire and implement the
knowledge, skills, attitudes and valued essentials for the maintenance of high quality of
nursing care,
To add or improve skills needed in the short term & long-term career growth.
Being necessary to fill gap in the past performance.
Need to increase the productivity and quality of the work.
To motivate employees and to promote employee loyalty.
OBJECTIVES OF STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
To increase employee productivity.
To ensure safe and effective patient care by nurses.
To ensure satisfactory job performance by personnel.
To orient the personnel to care objectives, job duties, personnel policies, and agency
regulations
To help employees cope with new practice role.
To help nurses to close the gap between present abilities and the scientific basis for
nursing practice that is broadening through research.

PLACE : Auditorium Hall, Hostel Premises of College of Nursing.

TARGET AUDIENCE : Nursing Staff of different Hospitals of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri,
Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Cooch Bihar, North & South Dinajpur Districts.
ESTIMATED CAPACITY OF PARTICIPANTS : 100 Nursing Staff
PROGRAM OUTLINE:
1. Needs Assessment: Conduct a needs assessment survey to identify the specific areas of
development required by the nursing staff.
2. Curriculum Development: Develop a comprehensive curriculum that addresses the
identified needs and includes the topic.
3. Program Delivery: Deliver the program through a Workshop.
4. Evaluation and Feedback: Evaluate the program's effectiveness through participant
feedback, pre- and post-tests, and observation of practice.
