On behalf of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, T.J.S. Engineering College, it gives
me immense pleasure to welcome you all to the Inaugural Function of the AICTE-ATAL
Sponsored Faculty Development Program (Online Mode) on the theme ‘Emerging Trends in
Advanced Materials, Smart Fabrication Techniques and Precision Metrology’.
This Faculty Development Program, scheduled from 18th to 23rd August 2025, aims to bring
together experts, academicians, and researchers to exchange knowledge, ideas, and experiences
in these cutting-edge domains of engineering.
We are truly honored today to have our esteemed Principal, respected Directors, distinguished
faculty members, eminent resource persons, and enthusiastic participants with us. Your
presence enriches this event.”

Materials Development and Optimisation’, and it will be delivered by Dr. T. Ram Prabhu,
Scientist, DRDO, Bengaluru.

6. Introduction of Resource Person
“Now, it is my privilege to introduce our distinguished resource person for this session, Dr. T.
Ram Prabhu.
Dr. T. Ram Prabhu stands at the forefront of multidisciplinary engineering, shaped by the rich
academic heritage of IIT Madras, IISc Bangalore, and NIT Trichy. He has also completed PG
Diploma in Finance and Applied Statistics.
Dr. T. Ram Prabhu, Sc ‘E’ is a Airworthiness Certification Lead in advanced Aero materials
engineering and additive manufacturing, with over 15 years of pioneering research and
innovation at CEMILAC. He has authored 76 international SCI indexed journal papers, 27
Conference Publications, 9 JSS standards and 10 book chapters, amassing over 2251
citations, an h-index of 25, and an i-index of 52, reflecting his global academic impact.
His outstanding achievements have been recognized with more than 21 prestigious awards,
including GATE-2006 All India Rank: 19, IEI Young Engineer Award, NIT Trichy Young
Alumni Achiever Award, Aeronautical Society of India Award of Excellence, ASME
Certificate of Appreciation, and the Lifetime Achievement Award (2023) for pathbreaking
contributions to metal 3D printing. Notably, his name has been featured in the Stanford–
Elsevier Top 2% Scientists Worldwide List (2024), placing him among the most influential
researchers internationally. His accolades reflect not only technical virtuosity but also visionary
leadership in advancing airworthiness certification and material innovation.
Dr. Prabhu has guided 8 doctoral theses, and contributed as an editorial advisor and peer
reviewers for 16 reputed SCI journals. He serves as an honorary advisor to two start-ups in
metal additive manufacturing. In academia, he has reviewed twenty-five doctoral theses and
contributed to curriculum development by offering industry-relevant insights to institutions.
His research presently focuses on Machine Learning and AI implementation in Materials
Engineering. With a rare confluence of academic rigor, industrial foresight, and regulatory
acumen, He evokes deep admiration as one of India’s most decorated and transformative
engineering minds.
