A. Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of parallelograms and triangle
similarity.
B. Performance Standards: The learner is able to investigate, analyze, and solve problems involving parallelograms
and triangle similarity through appropriate and accurate representation.
C. Learning Competency and The learner uses properties to find measures of angles, sides and other quantities involving
its Code: parallelograms. (M9GE-IIIb-1)
D. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, learners will be able to:
a. state the properties of parallelogram:
opposite sides are congruent;
opposite angles are congruent.
b. apply the properties of parallelogram in problem solving.

II. Review
1. When can you say that a Quadrilateral is a parallelogram?
III. Motivation
Two Truths One Lie!
1. In a parallelogram, any two opposite sides are congruent.
2. In a parallelogram, any two consecutive angles are complementary.
3. In a parallelogram, any two opposite angles are congruent.
IV. Lesson Proper
Draw a Parallelogram HOME, where HO ∥ EM.
A. Activity
B. Analysis
Ask the students the following Questions:
Identify the two pairs of congruent sides of Parallelogram HOME.
Identify the two pairs of congruent angles of Parallelogram HOME.
If HO=9 , then EM =¿ ¿
If ∠ H=100 ° , then∠ M =¿ ¿
C. Abstraction
Properties of Parallelogram
1. In a parallelogram, any two opposite sides are congruent.
Example: ▰ CARE C A
Given: CA = 7x-4
ER = 5x+8
Find: CA
STEPS: Solutions:
a) Identify the relationship of the CA ≅ ER
given. 7 x−4=5 x +8
b) Formulate the equation and solve. 7 x−5 x=8+ 4
c) Answer the question in the
2 x=12
problem.
2 x 12
=
2 2
x=6
CA = 7x-4
CA = 7(6) – 4
CA = 42 – 4
CA = 38
2. In a parallelogram, any two opposite angles are congruent.
Example: CALM is a parallelogram.
If the m∠ A=3 x +11, m ∠ M =4 x −9 , find them ∠ A .
STEPS: Solutions:
a) Draw the given.
b) Identify the relationship of the
given.
c) Formulate the equation. m ∠ A=m ∠ M
d) Answer the question in the 3 x+ 11=4 x−9
problem. 3 x−4 x=−9−11
−x=−20
−x −20
=
−1 −1
x=20
m∠ A=3 x +11
m ∠ A=3(20)+11
m ∠ A=71 ◦
D. Application: Board works
a. Find the measurement indicated in each parallelogram.
1. 2.
