Subject: Request for Realignment of Proposed Box Drainage to Prevent Routing

Through Residential Community

Respected Sir,

We, the residents of Nandan Ratan Pride, Bandlaguda, sincerely thank you and the
GHMC team for the successful completion of the 2-feet pipeline drainage project in
June 2024, which has effectively managed water stagnation during the monsoon.

However, we would like to bring to your attention some recent developments that
are causing serious concern among the residents.

Over the past few weeks, we have observed survey teams and individual
contractors assessing the area inside our community. Upon inquiry, we were
informed that a Box Drainage line measuring approximately 15 feet in width and 10
feet in depth is being proposed to run through the residential area of our venture.

We would like to respectfully highlight the following critical concerns:

1. Existing Drainage Infrastructure Already in Place

A project worth ₹1.29 crores was successfully completed in June 2024, laying a 2-
feet diameter pipeline from NRP 4th South to NRP 10th Line. This pipeline has
proven highly effective in draining rainwater during the last monsoon season.
Removing this infrastructure would not only result in a gross wastage of public funds
and resources but also reverse a solution that is already functioning well.

2. Geological Constraints and Safety Hazards

During the earlier pipeline laying, a massive flat rock was uncovered beneath the 35-
feet road between the 6th and 7th lines, spanning over 20,000 sq. ft and lying under
at least 10 houses. At that time, controlled dynamite blasting was used just to clear
a small path, which caused cracks and visible structural damage to several homes.
(Damage evidence enclosed.)

Attempting to clear a larger space now for the box drain may lead to severe
structural risks, including possible collapse of residential buildings, posing a major
safety threat to families, including the elderly and children.

3. Health Hazards and Livability Concerns

Routing a large box drain through the center of a residential colony would bring
unpleasant odors, mosquito breeding, pest infestations, and unsanitary conditions.
This will severely affect the health and well-being of our residents, especially the
elderly, children, and individuals with existing health issues.

4. Availability of Alternative Route

We would also like to inform you that there is vacant land behind the NRP boundary
wall, which we believe can be explored as a more suitable and non-intrusive
alternative for laying the box drain. This will ensure that the civic infrastructure goals
are met without compromising the safety and health of the residents.

Given the above, we earnestly request your support in:

 Preventing the destruction of the newly laid and functioning drainage pipeline
 Exploring an alternative alignment for the box drain through non-residential or
open spaces
 Safeguarding the structural integrity and health of residents and their homes

We would be grateful for an opportunity to meet you in person and present further
details, including photos and layout diagrams. We are confident that with your
leadership and the cooperation of GHMC engineers, a technically sound and socially
responsible solution can be implemented.

Thank you for your time and attention to this pressing issue.

Your Sincerely,
Residents of Nandan Ratan Pride
