RELATED THEORY
Cognitive Load Theory by John Sweller (1988) explains that the brain has a limited capacity to process
information at a given time. When students use mobile phones during class, it adds unnecessary
distractions that overload their cognitive system, making it harder to focus and learn effectively.
OBJECTIVES
1. To examine the frequency and purpose of mobile phone use among students during class hours.
2. To evaluate students’ academic performance and classroom engagement.
3. To determine the correlation between mobile phone usage and classroom learning effectiveness.
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
The study by James et al. (2024) is related to this study as it seeks to explore whether the use of mobile
phones inside the classroom helps improve learning or causes distractions that negatively affect students'
academic performance and engagement

The study by HRAI et al. shows how mobile phone usage affects classroom learning among Senior
