EXPRESSION1 FIBER ARTS Expression Fiber Arts
-Anatine-

The two stitch patterns in this wrap combine in a stylistic representation of the amazing tall pines of the Paci c
Northwest. The ribbed columns are reminiscent of bark on sturdy trunks, while the triangles remind me of children’s
rst drawings of trees. You can choose to work just one of the two patterns if you prefer. You can also simplify the
edges by replacing the eight patterned stitches at the beginning and end of each row with knit stitches to create a
garter-stitch border instead. The written instructions look long, but that's only because they include row-by-row color
changes to create the gradual color blends shown in the sample piece. If you aren't blending colors, just repeat the
rst two rows of the Columns Pattern and the rst 20 rows of the Triangles Pattern. The charts show the 19-stitch repeat
for both patterns and include the border pattern as well.

NOTES

• The sample shown used approximately 1380 yds / 1260 m total: Color A: 275 yds / 253 m, Color
B: 275 yds / 253 m, Color C: 275 yds / 253 m, Color D: 275 yds / 253 m, and Color E: 270 yds /
248 m.
• Gauge is not crucial to this project, but will affect yardage and size.
• The sample shown used ve colors, but this design can be made with fewer or more if preferred.
The written instructions detail how to blend colors, step-by step, which may look intimidating.
However, the Column Pattern is a simple two-row repeat, and the Triangle Pattern is a 20-row
repeat that follows a simple progression. Refer to the pattern charts to see the stitch patterns.
• This wrap has a multiple of 19 stitches, with eight stitches on each side for borders. If you want to
change the width of the overall piece, add/delete increments of 19 stitches in your cast on. If you
want to change the length of the overall piece, add/delete row repeats as desired.
• Click here to watch a tutorial showing how to work the Beginning Border and Column Pattern.
