Brochure Notes

A brochure is a detailed document that focuses on one key idea for a specific audience and a
specific purpose.

It can be either a digital brochure or a physical document used to provide information about a
product, service, organisation, event, or idea.

It is a marketing and informational tool that combines text and images in an attractive format to
inform, educate, or persuade an audience.

The main purposes of a brochure are:

●​ To inform people about something (e.g. a new product, a school, a cause).​

●​ To promote or advertise a business, event, or destination.​

●​ To educate the public about a topic (e.g. health, environment, tourism).​

●​ To influence decisions by providing reasons, benefits, or offers.



Key terminology–
1.​ Layout – The arrangement of text, images, and other elements on the pages.​

2.​ Design theme – The visual and stylistic consistency (colour palette, fonts, icons).​

3.​ Branding – The use of logos, slogans, and colours to represent an organisation.​

4.​ Visual hierarchy – The arrangement that guides the reader’s attention from most to
least important information.​

5.​ Cover Page / Front Panel – The first panel that grabs attention; includes the title,
image, and logo.​

6.​ Negative Space – Unused space that improves readability and aesthetic balance.​

7.​ Target Audience – The specific group the brochure is meant to appeal to.​
8.​ Tone of Voice – The attitude or emotional quality of the writing (e.g., formal, friendly,
persuasive).​

9.​ Purpose – The goal of the brochure: to inform, promote, educate, or persuade.​

Language Styles and Tips

Persuasive Devices:

●​ Rhetorical questions: "Looking for the perfect getaway?"


●​ Emotive language: "Unforgettable experience!"
●​ Repetition and synonyms: "Safe, simple, and secure."
●​ Superlatives: "Best in the region"
●​ Inclusive language: "You deserve...", "We believe..."
