1. Let 𝐴𝐴 = {1,2}, 𝐵𝐵 = {3,4} and 𝐶𝐶 = {4,5}.Verify that (𝐴𝐴 × 𝐵𝐵) × 𝐶𝐶 = 𝐴𝐴 × (𝐵𝐵 × 𝐶𝐶) and hence find 𝐴𝐴 × 𝐵𝐵 × 𝐶𝐶.
2. If 𝐴𝐴 = {1,3,5}, 𝐵𝐵 = {3,4} and 𝐶𝐶 = {2,3}, verify that:
(i) 𝐴𝐴 × (𝐵𝐵 ∪ 𝐶𝐶) = (𝐴𝐴 × 𝐵𝐵) ∪ (𝐴𝐴 × 𝐶𝐶)
(ii) 𝐴𝐴 × (𝐵𝐵 ∩ 𝐶𝐶) = (𝐴𝐴 × 𝐵𝐵) ∩ (𝐴𝐴 × 𝐶𝐶)
3. Let 𝑅𝑅 = {(𝑥𝑥, 𝑥𝑥 3 ): 𝑥𝑥 is a prime number less than 10}
(i) Write 𝑅𝑅 in roster form.
(ii) Find domain (𝑅𝑅) and range (𝑅𝑅).
4. Let 𝐴𝐴 = {1,2,3,4,5}. Define a relation 𝑅𝑅 from 𝐴𝐴 to 𝐴𝐴 by 𝑅𝑅 = {(𝑥𝑥, 𝑦𝑦): 𝑦𝑦 = 2𝑥𝑥 − 3}.
(i) Depict 𝑅𝑅 using an arrow diagram.
