Genomics
The Genomics Platform has delivered on transformative projects for more than 30 years. We
create foundational genomics resources and capabilities for the community and undertake
large-scale disease-based projects that pioneer approaches and advance the understanding of
the genomic basis of disease and other traits.
The Genomics Platform has its roots in the Whitehead Institute Center for Genome Research,
which was the single-largest contributor to the Human Genome Project. More recently, the
platform has been one of the world's largest producers of human genomic information, and
during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic was one of the largest producers of COVID-19 diagnostic test
results anywhere. The platform follows a path of ambitious achievement aimed at recognizing
the promise of genomic medicine in the United States and throughout the world.
Data generated by the Genomics Platform has enabled a wide range of applications, from
variant discovery to delivery of polygenic risk scores and clinical diagnoses, and contributed
knowledge to a wide array of fields, from rare disease research to population genomics, from
cancer clinical trials to understanding cell circuitry.
Broad Clinical Labs (BCL)
Broad Clinical Labs (BCL), a CLIA-licensed and CAP-accredited wholly owned subsidiary of the
Broad Institute, offers a range of research and clinical services that empower multi-omic data
generation and analysis needs, both for the Broad research community and for the rest of the
world. Broad Clinical Labs is the LLC through which the Genomics Platform’s services are offered
to users in the United States and throughout the world.
Accessing our services
BCL’s services include both research and clinical-grade offerings and range from whole genome
sequencing, whole exome sequencing, blended genome-exome sequencing, and bulk RNA
sequencing, to single cell sequencing, isoform sequencing, liquid biopsy/cfDNA profiling, plasma
proteomic profiling, and sequencing of customer-prepared libraries.
Customers and collaborators can contact us to get started and find more details on our services
at the BCL website.
