Chapter 1 – History of Computers (Project)
Project Topic: Time Travel Through Computer History Using Negative Numbers
Dear Students,
You will be working on a Project Work as part of your learning this term. Please read the
instructions carefully and follow them during the project.
General Guidelines
1. Work to Be Done in Class:
• All project work must be completed during the scheduled class hours.
• No work should be done at home.
• You must bring all necessary materials to class on the assigned project day.
2. Subject Integration:
This project is integrated with Computer (History of Computers) and Mathematics
(Negative Numbers ) , which means you will be applying concepts from both the subjects in
your project.
3. Evaluation:
• The project will be marked out of 10 marks, which will later be doubled to 20.
REQUIREMENTS:
1.) One/ Two A4 size light coloured sheet with borders drawn with any colour/ cello
tape/ any design. ( Try to complete in 1 page.)
2.) Stationery items (Pencil, eraser, ruler, etc.), Wooden colour pencils, brush pens /
sketch pens.
3.) Glue stick
4.) Internet / Library for research
4.) Very small pictures of devices
EXPECTATIONS:
• Children will write the Topic of the Project, Time Travel Through Computer History
Using Negative Numbers on the top of the A4 sheet.
• They have to write their name, class, section, subject, date, etc. at the back side of
the Paper.
• They will create a timeline chart vertically showing major inventions in the History of
computers.
• Use negative numbers for events before 1 AD . Use positive numbers for events after
1 AD.
• They will draw a number line from – 3000 BC to 2025.
• Mark important computer history events on the number line. ( Be selective.)
• Decorate the number line with pictures of the devices (not more than 10 devices and
atleast 1 or 2 devices has to be included which have been invented during the period
1952 – 2025).
• Label each event with the name of the invention and inventor.
RUBRICS:
1) Neatness and handwriting - 3 marks
3) Pasting of the picture- 2 marks
4) Content – 3 marks
5) Creativity and Presentation – 2 marks
