Key Definitions

- Natural Numbers: 1, 2, 3, ...

- Whole Numbers: 0, 1, 2, 3, ...

- Integers: ..., -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, ...

- Rational Numbers: p/q form (q = 0)

- Irrational Numbers: 2, (not p/q)

- Prime Numbers: Divisible only by 1 & itself

- Composite Numbers: More than 2 factors

Important Formulas

- HCF LCM = Product of two numbers

- Co-prime: HCF = 1

- If a number divisible by a and b, then divisible by LCM(a, b)

- Remainder theorem: a r (mod n)

Divisibility Rules

- 2: Last digit even

- 3: Sum of digits divisible by 3

- 4: Last 2 digits divisible by 4

- 5: Ends with 0 or 5

- 6: Divisible by 2 and 3

- 9: Sum of digits divisible by 9

- 11: Alt. sum of digits divisible by 11

Shortcuts & Tricks

- Use prime factorization for HCF/LCM

- For remainder questions, use modular arithmetic

- Co-prime check: HCF = 1

36 = 2^2 3^2
