Javelin Equipment

● Javelin is a field athletics event that involves throwing


an implement on a Javelin sector.
● The equipment used are A javelin implement and a
tape measure

FIELD OF PLAY
Passing skills in Handball

1. Jump pass
❖ It is made by a player while jumping in the air.
❖ A player makes one to three steps and hops to release
the ball at the highest height of the vertical jump
using one hand.
❖ Straighten the throwing arm upon releasing the ball
❖ Follow through by making a step forward.
2. Side pass

❖ It is used to pass to a player beside you.


❖ Hold the ball using both hands and bring it
towards the throwing arm
❖ Straighten the throwing arm, downward and
slightly outward
❖ Release the ball using one hand to reach the
targeted teammate
3. Flick pass

❖ It is one of the quickest ways to propel the ball


forward and is used when one is closely guarded.
❖ Grip the ball with the palm facing downward.
❖ Aim the ball to your teammate’s chest level.
❖ Push the ball using one hand and with a twist (flick)
on the wrist towards the target.
Dribbling in Handball
● A high dribble, involves bouncing the ball at waist level
or higher while moving quickly across the court. It is
primarily used when a player is in open space, needs to
cover a large distance, or is on a fast break towards the
goal.
● A low dribble, involves keeping the ball close to the
ground with short, controlled bounces. It is mainly used
when a player is closely guarded by a defender allowing
them to maintain control of the ball and maneuver
through the defender while reducing the risk of losing
possession or having the ball intercepted by an opponent.
Field
● The 9-meter line, also known as the free-throw line, is used to
resume play if an attacking player is fouled within that area.
● The 7-meter line marks the spot where penalty throws (also
known as 7-meter throws) are taken, awarded when a clear
scoring opportunity is illegally prevented.
● The 6-meter line marks the boundary of the goal area, which is a
restricted zone for all players except the goalkeeper
● The 4-meter line is a key marking on the handball court,
specifically designed to restrict the goalkeeper's movement
during penalty throws.
Jump Shot
● Stand shoulder width apart then extend the knees and transfer
your body weight from low to high jumping upwards.
● Extend the throwing elbow so that the arm is high and Point
the non-throwing arm at the target.
● Pull the throwing arm through toward the target leading with
your elbow and your forearm and wrist following last and fast.
● Release the ball sharply downwards at the required target and
at the highest point of jump right in front of your head.
● Follow through with your throwing arm pointing toward the
target and maintain balance on the way down as you flex knees
on impact.
