Alex thought that life was so boring – nothing ever happened.

As he lay on his back staring at the


ceiling, he heard a soft ‘ding’ coming from his laptop. He gave a quick glance his laptop in curiosity,
wondering what the was notification about. Having nothing better to do, he got up with a ‘C-R-R-A-
C-K’ of his stiff back. As he sat down and clicked the lone notification on his screen, it redirected him
to his email where he was given quite a shock. The email had come from the UK , more specifically
from the commonwealth writing competition, which he had registered for a few months ago. As he
read the email, his eyes got wider and wider. He had won the full-blown competition and was invited
to come to the queen’s palace. As he screamed for his mum, a million thoughts raced through his
head, but the one that stood out was “And I thought life was boring”.
