Module1 Tutorial 1

The document outlines a series of assignments related to signal processing, including plotting functions, analyzing energy and power signals, and determining system characteristics such as linearity and time-invariance. It includes specific tasks such as finding the response of a continuous linear time-variant system and checking the properties of various systems. The assignments require both theoretical analysis and practical plotting of signals.

Assignment

1. Plot
a) x(t) = u(t) + u(t − 2)
b) x(t) = u(t) + r(t)
2. Check whether the is an energy or a power signal

x(t) = cos(t)

3. a) Using a suitable time-domain approach find the response of the continuous

linear time-variant system with

x(t) = tu(t) and h(t) = e−at u(t)

where x(t) represents input signal to the system and h(t) represents the im-
pulse response of the system.

b) Find the odd and even components of the signal x(n) = {3, 1, −1, 4, 2}
4. a) For the given signal x(t) , plot

a) x(−t) b) x(2t − 1) c) x( 43 t) d) x(t + 1)

b) Check whether the following system represented by

y(t) = t0.15 x(t) + x(t − 0.85)

is linear, time-invariant, static and/or causal. Here, x(t) and y(t) represents
the input and output of the system respectively.
