Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) Guidelines
1. Overview:
The CFPS certification, administered by NFPA, recognizes individuals with expertise in fire
protection, prevention, and safety.
2. Eligibility:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 6 years of verifiable work experience in a fire-safety-related field, OR
- 4 years of work experience with an associate degree, OR
- 2 years of work experience with a bachelor's degree.
3. Exam Structure:
- Computer-based, 3-hour exam.
- 100 multiple-choice questions.
- Open book (NFPA Fire Protection Handbook, 21st Edition).
4. Study Tips:
- Review the NFPA Fire Protection Handbook thoroughly.
- Understand NFPA codes & standards relevant to the exam.
- Take practice tests and review weak areas.
5. Renewal:
- Every 3 years.
- Requires proof of continued professional development (CPD) and renewal fee payment.
