• Data Flow in Hardware (Input, Process, Storage, Output)
WHAT IS A COMPUTER SYSTEM?

• Definition: A computer system is an integrated set of hardware, software, and human

elements that work together to perform tasks and solve problems.
• Key Components: Hardware, Software, Peopleware
COMPONENTS OF A COMPUTER SYSTEM

• Hardware: Physical components of the computer.

• Software: Programs and applications that run on hardware.
• Peopleware: Human elements involved in using and managing the system
HARDWARE

• Definition: Physical parts of the computer system.

Examples:
• Input Devices: Keyboard, Mouse
• Processing Unit: CPU
• Storage Devices: Hard Drive, SSD
• Output Devices: Monitor, Printer
SOFTWARE

• Definition: A set of instructions or programs that direct the hardware.

Types:
• System Software: Operating systems (Windows, macOS).
• Application Software: Word processors, games.
• Utility Software: Antivirus, file management tools.
PEOPLEWARE

• Definition: The human aspect of computer systems, including users, programmers, and IT
professionals.
Roles:
• End Users
• System Analysts
• Programmers
• Network Administrators
DATA FLOW IN HARDWARE

• Overview: The process by which data moves through a computer system.

Key Steps:
• Input: Data is entered into the system via input devices.
• Process: The CPU processes the data.
• Storage: Data is saved to storage devices.
• Output: Processed data is output via output devices.
INPUT

• Definition: The act of entering data into the computer system.

• Examples: Keyboard, mouse, scanner
PROCESS

• Definition: The manipulation of input data to generate meaningful information.

• Key Component: Central Processing Unit (CPU)
STORAGE

• Definition: Saving data for future use.

Types:
• Primary Storage: RAM
• Secondary Storage: Hard drive, SSD
OUTPUT

• Definition: The presentation of processed data.

• Examples: Monitor displays, printed documents
SUMMARY

• Recap: A computer system is a combination of hardware, software, and peopleware.

Understanding data flow helps in comprehending how these components interact.
QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION
