* Recognize “th” as a digraph (2 letters = 1 sound)

* Pronounce it correctly (tongue between teeth!)

* Read & say simple “th” word

🕒 *Lesson Breakdown*

🟩 *1. Sound Introduction (4 mins)*

*On Board:* Write big:

*“th”* (circle it)

Say: “ th. My turn, thhh. Your turn!” (Repeat 3x)

Explain: “We stick our tongue out a little, like this…” (model it)

Let the child try it out. Praise effort!

🟩 *2. Picture Match Drawing (4 mins)*

Draw or quickly sketch 3 things on the board:

*Thumb* (hand with arrow to thumb)

*Tooth* (simple cartoon tooth)

*Cat* (not a "th" word!)

Ask:

👉 “Point to the picture with a ‘th’ sound.”

👉 “Which one starts with thhh?”

Write words on the board, one at a time:

*th-i-n, **th-a-t, **th-u-m, **th-e-n*,th-r-ee

Sound them out slowly together

* Point to each letter: “th – i – n”* Then say it together: “thin!”

Let the child come up and help sound one out with you.
✏️Add a smiley or star under each word once she reads it.

🟩 *4. Mini Word Sort (3–4 mins)*

Draw a simple T-chart:

| moth | pen |

Read each one aloud, have the child help you write it under the correct column.

Ask: “Does it have the th sound?”

🟩 *5. Wrap-Up Sentence (2–3 mins)*

Write one simple sentence with “th”:

-That is a thin moth.

Have her read it slowly with you.

Then say: “Who can find all the ‘th’ sounds?” – Circle them together
