After learning the material of Self-introduction independently, students will be able to introduce
him/herself with correct expressions and responses, either in formal or informal situations.
A. INTRODUCING ONESELF

1. Formal Situation
Usually, full name is used in business and formal situations.
Expressions Responses
May I introduce myself? Nice to meet you, too.
I am Miranda Houston. Glad to see you, too.

2. Informal Situation
Usually, first name is used in informal situation.

After learning the material of Introducing Others independently, students will be able to
introduce someone to someone else with correct expressions and responses, either in formal
or informal situations.

B. INTRODUCING OTHERS

These types of the introduction involve three people:


A is the introducer (who knows both B and C)
B is someone who knows A but C
C is someone who knows A but B
Example:
A: Have you met each other?
B: No, we haven’t.
A: Tom, this is Lucy. Lucy, this is Tom. (B and C smile and shake hands).
B: Nice to meet you, Lucy.
C: Nice to meet you, too, Tom.

Follow-up:
After you have been introduced to someone, it is polite to ask a few general questions to get
acquainted.
For example:
B: Where are you from, Lucy?
C: I’m from Florida.
B: Florida, which part?
C: Miami. How about you, Tom?
B: I come from Atlanta, Georgia,
C: How do you know Cathie (A)?
B: She is my classmate.

Note:
When meeting someone for the first time, it is not appropriate to ask certain types of questions.
Do not ask a person’s age, salary, marital status, birth date, weight, and other private things.
You may ask general questions, such as:
- How do you know Cathie (the person who introduced us)?
- Are you a student at this school?
- Is this your first time here?
- What do you do for a living?
- How long have you been working for this company?

Instruction:
1. Write a script of your monologue to introduce yourself
2. On your script, you have to:
- Introduce your name
- mention your home address and school
- mention your family member
- tell about your hobby and why you like it
- tell about your ideal in the future
3. Record your video as creative as you can and then post it on your Instagram Account
