Project Revised

The document outlines a proprietary formula for a GROUND GRANULATED BLAST FURNACE SLAG based cementitious binder that aims to replicate the properties of traditional cement without using clinker, thus reducing costs. The product has been lab tested and shows promising compressive strength and setting times, with a commercial viability cost of approximately Rs. 3,000 - 3,400 per ton. Additionally, it highlights the potential for marketability due to lower taxation compared to traditional cement, enhancing profit margins as production scales increase.

GROUND GRANULATED BLAST FURNACE

SLAG based CEMENTITIOUS BINDER

Pitching Proprietary Formula

CURRENT SCENARIO OF CEMENT PRODUCTION

In general cement manufacturing, clinker (intermediate product) is ground by

adding 2% – 3% gypsum to make Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) & 60% - 70%

clinker, 40% - 30% flyash from thermal power stations by burning coal to make

portland pozzolana cement (PPC).

OUR PRODUCT - FORMULA

Our Product aims to produce the same properties of cement through not using

the traditional raw materials viz clinker, that go into the manufacture of cement,

which would economise the costs and gain the same strength.

Our product is mainly based on GGBS & our Proprietary Activators.

OUR PRODUCT

For our product, Cementitious GGBS Binder, we need GGBS along with our

proprietary activators & accelerators and micro fine silica to get the targeted

strength of minimum 43 Grade/Mega Pascals (Mpa) at par with traditional OPC

cement products without using clinker or any other kind of cement products.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION AND CREDIBILITY

Our formula is Bureau Veritas lab tested by IS 4031 test method and following

are the results:

Initial Setting Time 40 minutes
Final Setting Time 255 minutes (4 hours)
Fineness (Blaine’s air permeability) 316 m2/kg
Soundness (Le-Chatelier’s) 1.1 mm
TECHNICAL INFORMATION AND CREDIBILITY
Our formula is Bureau Veritas lab tested by IS 4031 test method and following

are the results:

Compressive Strength:
24±1h 10 Mpa
72±1h 27.5 Mpa
168±1h 38 Mpa
672±1h 54.5 Mpa
Note: If required high early strength upto 20 Mpa can be achieved in 1 day
REQUIRED GGBS CHARACTERISTICS

GGBS from Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBS) is required from a vertical

roller mill(VRM)/ High performance - High Chrome liners Ball Mill for production

of binder for sustenance performance of the product, GGBS should have 25

microns particle size at least by 50%.

COLOUR CHARACTERISTICS

An Addition of 5% - 10% fly ash from thermal power station would also leverage

pozzolanic properties to the product.

Usually, the product is in white/cream in colour, this can also be sorted by

adding fly ash.

GEOGRAPHIC VIABILITY

GBS may be procured from Integrated Steel Plants viz, jsw, Kirloskar, Kalyani Steels

around Hospet at Bellary, Jindal Saw (Formerly Satavahana Ispat Ltd, Kanakel), etc.

In all respects, basic raw material being 80% of the product – Granulated Blast furnace

Slag (GBS) can be majorly procured from Jindal saw, fly ash from jsw, Janaki steels

near kanekal which avoids hectic logistics.

COMMERCIAL VIABILITY
Our product can be manufactured with the materials at an Ex-Works Cost of

appx. Rs. 3,000 - 3,400 per Ton as under based on production volume.

Material Mix
Slag 77.5%
Fly Ash 10%
Proprietary Activators & Micro silica 12.5%
MARKETABILITY & SCALABILITY

Traditionally manufactured cement is taxed @ 28%, where as our product can be

marketed as GGBS based Binder which could be taxed @ 5% only, raking the

fiscal benefits and capitalising on profit potential.

As much as the production scales up, the price of the materials could go down

increasing the scope for profits.
