Study on the Moral Value of Students at Elementary level

ABSTRACT
Education is the basic source of human development. It develops social, moral, emotional
and spiritual value in human being. Today everywhere there are many conflicts in the
society and country and in these situations we need peace. Peace education is very
necessary at all level of education. Peace education is the process of achieving the
values like moral, social, aesthetic value etc. in modern world people are highly qualified,
having high degrees but lacking a sense of values. And that’s why every where the situation
is very critical and conflict. In these perspective we need peace education due to this we
inculcate the values in students. Values are very important part of our life. Kothari
commission (1964 – 1966) recommended to inculcating the social, moral, and spiritual
values among students as one of the objectives of education. Central and State Government
should develop a mechanism to introduce and inculcate the values among students at all
levels in all educational institutions. Present study conducted in Darbhanga city to check
the moral value of government and private school students at elementary level. Study
adopted descriptive method. For this one government and private school was selected
and all students of class viii th of both schools taken as a sample. To check the moral
value researcher used the standardized tool of moral value scale (MVS) of Alpana sen
and Arun kumar singh. Finding showed that in private school 35% students has very
high, 53% high, 8.82% median and 3% has low level of moral value and in government
school 34% students has very high, 63% has high and 3% has median level of moral
value. Result explains maximum students have high level of moral value which is good
sign for peace education.
