QUESTION 1:
You are responsible for designing the control panel for a nuclear reactor. Operators have to
monitor numerous alerts, alarms and readings which indicate normal operating conditions
almost all the time. If and when an abnormal state is indicated, the operator must take
remedial action immediately. Discuss how you would design the control panel to take into
account the qualities of human attention. [15 Marks]
QUESTION 2: Screenshots of the browser(s) interface usage during the tasks should be
taken.
Task 1
Imagine you're about to embark on an internet search for information on a topic you're
interested in. You have heard about a website that frequently provides comprehensive and
reliable information on this topic. However, you can't remember its name or its exact URL.
In this scenario, you are required to recall a website you are familiar with but cannot recall its
name or URL. You must use the browser's features to search for, recognize, or recall the
website based on any contextual cues you remember. What strategies did you employ to
recall? How effective were they? [10 Marks]

In this case, you are required to plan for future recognition of a website without using any
tools like bookmarks or history. You can rely on the browser's features for recognition, such

might make it stand out.

What suggestions to improve the web browser's recall or recognition features would you
make? [6 Marks]

for recognition. What are the key differences? [15 Marks]

human characteristics might people want to enhance? How might that change the nature of
interaction between people, objects and spaces? [15 Marks]
Question 5:
You have been asked to develop a mobile device and application for people who go running
or jogging. How would you go about the understanding process? What research would you
