Introduction:
Work-life balance and job satisfaction are two of the most critical components influencing
employee well-being, organizational performance, and workforce retention in today’s
competitive manufacturing environment. Himatsingka Seide Ltd., a globally integrated textile
manufacturing firm based in Hassan, Karnataka, has a significant number of shop-floor and
office employees. The increasing demand for productivity, long work hours, and stress in the
textile industry can affect employees' personal lives, thereby influencing their job satisfaction.
This study seeks to explore the relationship between work-life balance initiatives and the level of
job satisfaction among employees in this company.
Objectives of the Study:
1. To assess the current work-life balance of employees at Himatsingka Seide Ltd., Hassan.
2. To examine the level of job satisfaction among different categories of employees.
3. To analyze the relationship between work-life balance and job satisfaction.
4. To suggest strategies to improve employee work-life quality and satisfaction.
Summary:
This research will use a structured questionnaire to collect primary data from a sample of
employees working across various departments. The study will focus on aspects such as working
hours, leave policies, family life balance, stress levels, and job motivation. The insights will help
the HR department at Himatsingka design better employee welfare and retention programs.
Secondary data will be gathered from HR policy manuals, internal reports, and published articles
on work-life balance and job satisfaction in the textile sector.

positive relationship with job satisfaction. It finds that when organizations adopt work-life
balance programs, employee motivation and retention improve significantly. The study
emphasizes the organizational benefits of prioritizing employee well-being.
iii. Abdirahman, H. I. H., Najeemdeen, I. S., Abidemi, B. T., & Ahmad, R. B. (2018)
The research highlights a positive correlation between work-life balance, job satisfaction, and
organizational commitment in Malaysian universities. It concludes that enhancing work-life
balance and satisfaction levels boosts employee performance. The study emphasizes the strategic
importance of motivation for sustaining institutional goals.
iv. Rani, S., Kamalanabhan, B., & Selvarani, S. (2011)
This study focuses on employees in IT organizations and explores how work-life balance
mediates the relationship between work-related factors and satisfaction. A strong correlation was
found between work tasks and satisfaction, moderated by the balance between professional and
personal life. It stresses the dual importance of job structure and employee well-being.
v. Shujat, S., Cheema, F.-E.-A., & Bhutto, F. (2011)
Analyzing employees in Karachi's private banking sector, this research finds a weak relationship
between work-life balance and job satisfaction, largely due to external socio-economic pressures.
Despite this, it recommends that banks improve their employee benefits and engagement
programs to enhance retention and morale.
