13. PQ is a long straight conductor carrying a current of 3 A as shown in figure below. An
electron moves with a velocity of 2x107 ms-1 parallel to it. Find the force acting on the electron.

15. An ammeter of resistance 0.8 Ω can measure current up to 1.0 A.

18. Using Biot-Savart's law, deduce the expression for the magnetic field at a point (x) on the axis
of a circular current carrying loop of radius R. How is the direction of the magnetic field determined
at this point?
19. A moving coil galvanometer has a coil of resistance 50 Ω. It shows a full-scale deflection for
a current of 50 mA. How will you convert it to an ammeter having a range of 0 to 3A?

23. Draw a Moving coil Galvanometer diagram and Obtain the formula I = K𝛳 for a moving coil
galvanometer, given the deflecting torque τ = m x B where m is the magnetic dipole moment of
the coil placed in the magnetic field B, I is the current in the galvanometer and is the deflection.
OR
A small compass needle of magnetic moment 'm' is free to turn about an axis perpendicular to
the direction of uniform magnetic field 'B'. The moment of inertia of the needle about the axis is
'T'. The needle is slightly disturbed from its stable position and then released. Prove that it
executes simple harmonic motion. Hence deduce the expression for its time period.

(i) Draw the magnetic field lines distinguishing between diamagnetic and paramagnetic materials.
Give a simple explanation to account for the difference in the magnetic behaviour of these
materials.
(ii) State Gauss's law for magnetism. Explain its significance.
(iii) Write the four important properties of the magnetic field lines due to a bar magnet.
