A. COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course is pursuant to Republic Act 9163, otherwise known as the National Service Training Act of 2001,
which mandates tertiary educational institutions to incorporate in the collegiate curriculum a program aimed at
“enhancing civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and
patriotism while undergoing training in any of its three (3) program components, namely Civic Welfare Training
Service (CWTS), Literacy Training Service (LTS) and Reserved Officers Training Course (ROTC)”. It also inculcates
in the youth “patriotism, nationalism, and advance their involvement in public and civic affairs”. These will
require students to carry out projects and activities contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of
life of the community members or enhancement of facilities especially in terms of improving health, education,
safety, livelihood, environment entrepreneurship, recreation, moral, patriotism, and nationalism of the citizenry,
and other social welfare services.
The Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) Curricular Program consist of lectures and participatory
discussions, team building, seminars and bonding activities that are designed to highlight values and skills
formation, especially that teamwork, leadership, communication and risk-taking in context of Community
Organization and Development, Management, Empowerment and Social Mobilization.

B. PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES


1. Coverage
All incoming freshmen students, male or female, starting Academic Year (S/Y) 2003-2004, enrolled in the
baccalaureate are required to complete one (1) NSTP component of their choice, as a graduation requirement.
2. Duration and Equivalent Course Unit
CWTS, as a component of NSTP shall be taken for two (2) semesters, credited for three (3) units per semester
in compliance for a required training hours of a minimum of fifty-four (54) hours and a maximum of ninety
(90) hours per semester or one (1) summer program in lieu of the two (2) semester program.

C. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES


1. OBJECTIVES.
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
a. develop and promote civic consciousness, enhance the intellectual, physical, moral, spiritual and social
being of the students;
b. inculcate among the students the ideals and patriotism, nationalism and advance their involvement in
community and civic affairs;
c. instill moral values among the students, inculcate the respect for the rights of civilians and adherence
to the constitution;
d. internalize virtues as the foundation of leadership and how it applies on individual, team, and
institutional levels to national development in the context of self-awareness and values integration in
promotion for understanding human nature;
e. apply concepts learned and implement as a team in their assigned community, barangays, or government
agency;
f. generate team output on CWTS experience, focusing on the core values learned and present/submit either
written or visual form.

G. CLASSROOM POLICIES
Students of this course are expected to:
1. Take and pass all short/long quizzes, midterm and final examinations and subject requirements/project.
If a student failed to take a scheduled examination shall only be allowed to take the special examination due to
the following valid reasons:
Illness (supported by a Doctor’s Certificate)
Hospitalization (with a Hospital Discharge Certificate) Death of an Immediate Family Member
Emergency cases (i.e. fire, earthquake, accident, hospitalization, or such similar occurrences)
Those who will be taking National Examinations (i.e. Civil Service Examination, TESDA Assessment, and the
like)
2. Make up for missed exams voluntarily is required to apply for a special test approved by the College Dean. He/she
has to present the approved letter to the instructor before taking the test.
3. Participate actively during discussion, recitation, individual or group activities, etc.
4. Attend class punctually and regularly via face-to-face or Google meeting.
5. Student who has been absent for at least 20% of the hours of recitation, lecture or any other scheduled in the
subject for the semester or any academic period shall be automatically be dropped from the class.
6. Student with at least 1-2 submission of task depending on gravity of work will take the comprehensive examination
and oral revalida to measure the competency and learning of students for the missed submissions, discussions, and
recitations. Students should review all instructional materials sent in Google Classroom for their reference.
7. Comprehensive examination will be 50% and Oral Revalida 50% a total 100%; students should at least obtain a
passing score of 75 or 3 in numerical to complete the course. Effective this academic year 2022-2023
8. Late submitted output or any activity automatically gets a score of 75 or 3 in numerical.
9. If the student is late for 15 minutes, the student will be allowed to attend classes but will be marked absent.
If he/she arrives during any portion of the first 15 minutes, he/she will be marked late. Three tardiness is
equivalent to one absent.
10. Observe honesty and independence during recitation, quizzes, and examinations. Any student caught to be
dishonest will be dealt with accordingly based on the College policies.
11. Speak and act decently and appropriately in an in-person or virtual discussion, mute if you are not called to
speak, wait for your turn or raise your hand for you to acknowledge.
12. Wear proper uniform /appropriate dress code, and observe wearing of ID during an in-person or virtual meeting
as prescribed by the College.
13. If there are concerns or difficulties communicate urgently to your instructor for necessary assistance and
guidance.
14. The official media for communication and academic concerns will be the group chat and Google Classroom for
direct tracing of information/concerns. In case of sensitive or serious concern matter you may direct message
your instructor.
15. Read and understand any message sent in Google Classroom or Group Chat, Educators should be knowledgeable,
critical, and sensitive of information.
16. Complete tasks in a given schedule to avoid deductions especially for objective academic requirements.
17. Plagiarism is a serious academic crime, thus, will not be tolerated in the College
18. Students who are found guilty of plagiarism may be subjected to sanctions, such as reprimand, warning, loss
of credit, failure, suspension, or expulsion depending on the gravity of the act.
19. BE HUMBLE. Practice courteous at all times.
