2. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Guide


Participants: 8–10 second-year social science students

Duration: 45–60 minutes

Objective: To collect detailed group opinions and social dynamics around social media use
and its impact on academics.

Discussion Questions:

 1. Which social media platforms do you use most often, and why?
 2. How much time do you spend daily on social media?
 3. In what ways does social media help or hurt your academic work?
 4. Do you ever use social media to support your school work (e.g., assignments, group
discussions)?
 5. Have your grades changed since you became more active on social media?
 6. Are there any differences in how male and female students use social media
academically or socially?
 7. How do you balance your time between academic responsibilities and social media?
 8. What do you suggest could help students use social media more responsibly or
productively?
