TEST 1

SECTION 1
Hello, Greenwell Garden Centre. Oh, hello, I'm calling about the part-time job you were advertising last week. Oh, you
mean for the delivery driver? No, for a general assistant. My son's looking for a part-time job, and I said I'd call you
about it. I already picked up an application form from one of your staff. I see. Well, we'll shortly have a position
available in our new market, Road Branch, that's opening next month, or there's one available right now in our branch
in Station Road. And that's where the actual job advert was for. See, it's definitely the current job I'm calling about.
Right.

Now, there were a couple of options regarding working hours. We're really looking for someone that could do both
Monday and Wednesday afternoons, or the same hours on Thursday and Friday. What about Sunday? That would
work, provided he could do a full day. That wouldn't be a problem. Great.

And what would the job involve exactly? Let me just look at the job description for that particular job. Well, it looks
like there'd be some working on the checkout, you know, taking payment for goods. And I suppose our general
assistants also do rather a lot of lifting of some quite heavy items. So good physical strength is quite important for this
position.

There's some assisting with customer inquiries as well, but we don't expect new staff to have much knowledge about
the plants themselves. That's what the more experienced staff are there for. Then, especially in the summer, the plants
need a lot of watering. I see. Well, I think he could manage all that. Good.

Now, there are a few other qualifications and skills that the job calls for the first one being communication skills.
They're important, as you know, first impressions count for a lot.

And the other thing we would be looking for in our applicants for this position is they should have some ability in
maths, a basic level at least. Well, he did well in that subject at school, and he's polite and sociable too, so hopefully
he'll match your expectations. Great.

Now listen and answer questions 7 to 10.

So, am I right in thinking he's still at high school? He's about to finish for the summer break, so he could come for an
interview this week if that's convenient. How about Wednesday? Say, about 10:00 AM? I'm afraid that's the morning of
his last exam. Could we make it later instead, perhaps at 2:30? 5:00 would be better for us. OK, that's fine.

So, his name is… It's Liam Avery. OK, got that. So, Liam will be having the interview with me. My name's Maria
Rapana, R-A-P for Peter, A-N-A, on Tuesday.

Liam needs to ring me on my direct line to confirm that he's coming, and that's 0213038874. OK.

Oh, just one more thing. I need to see Liam's passport at the interview, just to see that he's eligible to work in this
country. Sure, I'll tell him. Thanks for your time. Thanks for calling.

TEST 2
SECTION 1
Hello, welcome to the annual community art show information line. How can I help you today? Hi, I've already
purchased my ticket for the art show, but I wanted to check a few details before the event. Can you help me with that?
Certainly! I'll just need a few details. Can you provide your postcode to find your booking? Sure, it's AF741T. Thank
you.

Ah yes, I found your booking. Just to confirm, you've booked for the 25th of November, right? Yes, that's correct. What
time does the event begin? The doors open at 4:00 p.m., but the actual event starts at 4:30 p.m. However, we advise
arriving early to avoid any delays.

By the way, did you know there's a discount for local residents? Yes, I think I already received it. I'm pretty sure I paid
£16.50, right? Hm, let me check. Ah yes, you're right. You paid £16.50 instead of the standard £20. I'm glad I qualified
for the discount.

Will my family members be able to come for free, as I heard? That's correct. Family members of local residents can
enter free of charge. Just make sure you bring some form of ID that shows your residency. Excellent.

Do you know how many artworks will be on display this year? Oh, there will be more than 360 pieces from both local
and international artists. Last year, we had 320 pieces, but we've expanded the exhibition. That's impressive.

And will there be any special performances this time? Yes, there's a live sound show that's generating a lot of
excitement. It's actually the first time we're including this type of performance. Oh, a sound performance! I love unique
events like that.

Now, I also heard there will be live music, right? I believe I read it's going to be guitar music. Actually, there was an
initial plan for guitar music, but it's been changed. Instead, we'll have live piano music, which we think will create a
better atmosphere for the event. That sounds lovely.

Now I'm curious about refreshments. Will there be any available? Yes, drinks will be at the venue, and each ticket
holder gets a free drink, either alcoholic or non-alcoholic, depending on your preference. We'll have a selection of
beverages available, including water, juices, and wine. Nice. I'll probably stick to non-alcoholic.

I'm bringing my kids along. Are there any special activities for them? Certainly! We're offering art workshops for
children under 12, but please note that parents or guardians must accompany them at all times during the event.
Understood. I'll make sure to keep an eye on them.

One last thing: what happens if the event is cancelled? Will we get our money back? Unfortunately, the tickets are non-
refundable. But don't worry, we've taken out an insurance policy for the event. In the event of cancellation, the
insurance will cover the cost of your tickets, so you're safe there. That's good to know. Thanks for all the information!
You're welcome. We look forward to seeing you at the event!
