1 GENERAL FOR ELECTRIC WELDING/INVENTER
If the welding machine has become wet, disconnect the primary power and dry before
use.
If a gas metal arc welding (MIG or MAG) or Tungsten Inert Gas welding (TIG) process is
used, check the gas hoses and fittings for leaks.
Check electrode holders for loose or exposed connections to reduce the likelihood of
electric shock.
Check all cables and connections for damage.
Check that the work return cable is connects to the item being welded and not any other
structural item.
Check for combustible and flammable materials nearby and remove them from the area.
Check that leads and cables do not obstruct stairways or trail across passageways.
Check the welding helmet and gloves, and make sure all areas of skin are covered.
Checked the nature of the metal to be welded. Will it produce toxic fumes that require
extraction? Do you need to wear a respirator?

2 WELDING SET/INVENTER
Connections are proper and well insulated.
Shock preventers built-in/installed.
On / Off switch in good work condition.
Good earthing and grounding.

3 CABLES AND JOINTS


Cables and joints are proper and in good condition.
Well insulated and no exposed spot.
Size of cable used is proportional to voltage supply.
Any overloading where by cables become hot.
Any contact with oil / sharp edges / water.
Are cable properly hung up to prevent tripping hazards to pedestrians.

Holders are kept dry and properly hung up after use.
