Lubrication Tips

Whenever applying grease to any machine component, it is good practice to follow these practices during the process:

 Make sure the dispensing nozzle on the grease gun is clean before starting.

 Always clean any dirt or grease from the lubrication fitting prior to application.

 Grease guns are capable of developing high pressures. Excessive lubrication may damage the
component being lubricated.

 Apply lubricant through the fittings until the lubricant overflows the bearing seals. Some components are
not designed to take this much grease, first consult the lubrication procedures in the OMM.

Grease Gun Types

There are two main types of grease guns that are most
commonly used. Both grease guns can be filled by suctioning
grease from a bulk container or by installing a standard 14.5 oz
grease cartridge.
